AnkhAscendant
I believe that was a feature in Dawnguard. Sorry. (Someone correct my if I'm wrong ^^; )
Ragicka
Mounted combat was introduced in version 1.6 before Dawnguard. Only 5 hours after a few months? See if creating a new character enables it. That's my first guess. My second guess is to uncheck any mods that may conflict. And if all else fails, validate files. Rennn
Mounted combat is a patch feature as Ragicka said, not a Dawnguard feature. Edited September 10, 2012 by Rennn
fms1
Mounted Combat should work with your current character, but only with melee weapons, bows, and crossbows. It will not work with magic equipped.
SFBryan18
It's a poor excuse for a feature anyways. The absolute worst thing they ever added. Doesn't support magic, melee weapons miss half the time, and horses turn in the wrong direction most of the time. I wish someone would fix it. Cthuloot
It seems like a major afterthought. The animations look... Okay they're pretty bad, but at least they tried. I spent about 30 minutes trying to summon a bound bow before I realized this WASN'T an option, which really irked me. If you use bound weapons, horse combat is not an option because you sheath your weapon when mounting, which then unsummons it. My character uses a bound bow exclusively (RP reasons) and a small soul trap sword. I don't really see why riding a horse makes you incapable of casting any magic. As SFBryan18 said, you miss half the time with melee weapons. I think that was a generous statement. I was testing it out on two bandits and could not hit either one. I spent probably an hour and a half trying to hit them, but to no avail. Eventually I was sick of wasting potions and toggled god mode so all I'd have to worry about is my horses ridiculous poor turning radius and awkward clipping with the ground. I got a hit once... I think, either that or his pal hit him with an arrow, but was disappointed by it. No additional damage, he stood there completely unphased by a sword that smacked him in the face at roughly 30 miles per hour. At the very LEAST I would have liked a little stagger. I think at a full sprint I could have gotten a neat "kill cam" type thing zooming in to show the blade connecting with his face in slow motion and knocking him flat on his back. Also... How does a horse at full speed NOT knock somebody over? Why can't I just trample people with my horse? That would be deadly. Instead, it's like I hit a brick wall and my horse then slides around him awkwardly. Horse combat is a joke.
