BigBensonB
In the Dark Tower series by Steven King, the main character, Roland Deschain of Gilead carries two large revolver with sandalwood grips. As described on Wikepedia, Roland's revolvers (sometimes referred to as "the big guns" by other characters) are described as long and heavy, with blued steel (originally from his world's Excalibur) and sandalwood grips. These guns are a major sigil, as they are recognized throughout Mid-World and are used as an identifier of Roland. During the search for more ammunition in New York City in The Drawing of the Three, the guns are revealed to be chambered close enough to .45 or the .45 Long Colt to use manufactured ammo. I imagine them to be somewhat like the ranger sequia with large grips and thicker barrel, and I think sandalwood wood be a wavy grained light sand-colored wood. If someone can find a mod for this, or is willing to make it, it would be awesome. I only really want the model, as I am not very competent in blender, and any stats on the gun I will probably change in GECK. Thanks for anyone who wants to take this on. devinpatterson
Well I'm going to be pitching a Dark Tower mod soon (the FO3 one won't see the light of day, and NV is a lot easier because of the existing assets), and I'v done a ok re-texture on some NCR weapons so I could take a shot at it. BigBensonB
Thanks that would be great. If you finish the dark tower mod, feel free to email be at [email protected], because I would love to check it out. Definitely one of my favorite book series of all time, frustrating ending or no. Thanks again!

During the search for more ammunition in New York City in The Drawing of the Three, the guns are revealed to be chambered close enough to .45 or the .45 Long Colt to use manufactured ammo. Everything about that pic screams out Colt Peacemaker/single action army. You can see the ejector, so you'v got a loading gate and a single action. That's the model I based it on and NV's 357 is a great match (both for the mesh and animation). Increased barrel diameter, decreased ejector housing diameter (for greater contrast to the barrel), and hit several smaller details (trigger, trigger guard, sights etc). The animation was incredibly touch, if the shells and cylinder were even a little off they'd stick vertically to the front of the cylinder. But it's done and working perfectly in game. Here is a comparison (Peacemaker on top, 357 in the middle and Ranger Sequoia on the bottom. http://i1066.photobucket.com/albums/u404/devinlpatterson/Colt%20Peacemaker%20comparison%20&%20Sandlewood_zpse683f851.jpg Also found 3 sandlewood textures that I think will be usable once I cut them to 512x512. I like the top one, let me know if you have a preference. So half-way done. Now comes the re-texturing. Here is an ingame shot; http://i1066.photobucket.com/albums/u404/devinlpatterson/Screenshot_zpsfc4529d0.jpg But there is significant differences between the .45 Long Colt and the Gov 45-70; The Peacemaker .45 Long Colt blackpowder loads called for 28 to 40 grains of blackpowder in a 1.285 long case, behind a 230-to-255-grain (15 to 16.5 g) lead bullet around 500 ft-lbf (with a modern smokeless loads & 325 gr bullet of 1,267 ft-lbf, roughly 44mag power) The 45-70 had (as per the name) 70 grains of black powder in a 2.105" case, behind a 300 to 405 grain lead bullet, hitting around 1700ft-lbf (and modern smokeless loads from 2852 to 3449 ft-lbf for strong jhp). I'm going to do some research and see if there are some 45-70 pistols for the appropriate period that I can use as an example models as well. Also a little surprised there isn't a symbol/sign/sigil/crest etc listed that I can put on it. Thanks that would be great. If you finish the dark tower mod, feel free to email be at [email protected], because I would love to check it out. Definitely one of my favorite book series of all time, frustrating ending or no. Thanks again! This is a long cycle mod, probably won't be started for 3-6 months. One because I need a good solid story and layout. Two because I need to devote some serious amount of time to two projects (Mars, Sunset) I'm working with other team members on....before they string me up for starting another project :( But if you want to help I really need a continuity/idea person for putting a fallout spin on the mod. My idea is that each dimension has a representation of the dark tower (and I think that fits the dark tower wiki), and being a center of creation, it would have to exist in all planes. In fallout's plane of existence the tower will be an gigantic skyscraper (something iconic akin to the Empire State Building) still standing with other smaller skyscrapers leaning on it in a spiral pattern to make a enormous tower (a big static collection). It would have initially have been a scientific research center of the highest calibur to fit the wiki plot line of the "The Great Old Ones eventually attempted to topple the Tower as well and replace it with a technological replica". I also believe that you can gain entrance to it from your home dimension (in conflict with the dark tower wiki) as opposed to only gaining access from Mid-World. The rest would basically follow very closely (maybe omitting some of the mystical elements like the world portal....maybe not), since both post apocalyptic settings share a great deal. Let me know if that's something you'd be interested in and I'll put up a new post and we can being putting the Dark Tower together. devinpatterson
Put a rough texture on it (tweaked the 357 base). Here is a pic;http://i1066.photobucket.com/albums/u404/devinlpatterson/GunsofDeschain_zpsb7866f12.jpgI tried to make the blue close to your pic, since a real "blue'd" gun would be much darker. And the butt close to the sandlewood samples I saw. It's pretty rough, but let me know if there are things you want changed/improved.It's here (edit: fixed ver)It will automatically be added to your inventory. It has been added to all the important formlists that a 44 mag has as well (ranged weapon, professional, cowboy etc) via script, so I suggest you put it last. It's a very mod friendly esp and won't overwrite any other mods's formlist, but another mod could easily overwrite it's, if it comes after the mod.The textures and nif are wrapped up in the bsa, so you just need to extract the two files (esp, bsa) in the rar into your data directory and your good to go. BigBensonB
Thanks man looks great, you did a good job. It looks pretty much as I imagined. Once again, much appreciated.
Khajit187
Also a little surprised there isn't a symbol/sign/sigil/crest etc listed that I can put on it. Not sure if I got that right... there IS a symbol on the gun. In the reference picture it is hard to see... but on the barrel itself, at the muzzle, there is the sigul of Arthur Eld, the legendary rose.If you'd put that on the texture, too, that would be awesome! padawan95001
I absolutely love this, almost as much as I love the books. But there is a broken texture on the right side of the gun where the bullets unload. If its a human-error, I'll fix it. If not though, could you please fix it? devinpatterson
I absolutely love this, almost as much as I love the books. Great series right? Right up there on my top 10. Wish I could find some other modders that felt the same way so a total conversion could be made. But there is a broken texture on the right side of the gun where the bullets unload. If its a human-error, I'll fix it. If not though, could you please fix it? Probably my mistake. Can you post a pic of it?

If not though, could you please fix it?Probably my mistake. Can you post a pic of it? I also have this issue. I've tried everything I can think of but to no avail. But then, I'm no modder. Here is a picture: http://i.imgur.com/1tJKfxR.jpg?1 If you could somehow fix that it would be amazing. But either way, thank you very much for making this and uploading it, its exactly what I've been looking for.
