[Request][Idea]for the TESNexus site

Hi

Every once in a while I come across a mod which could use (IMHO) some minor tweaking... before someone takes my head off, I'm mostly referring to technical ESP-plugin issues.

In most cases when I download a weapon/outfit mod, I change the items stats to my own preferences and relocate the item to a store of my choosing (if it was just placed in the world-space).

when I see an item I really like with stock or no icon I usually make my own.

 

my point is, I'd love to see a platform that'll allow to share those little tweaks as a patch for the original instead of re-releasing another man's work.

 

I believe this could even solve potential ownership issues since it will be published as a user file in the 'official' mod page and with the author's approval.

I have already discussed a solution similar to this with Dark0ne.

 

The problem with this suggestion however is the mod page. If the author (or admin) deletes the mod page, all attached files and images are trashed with it.

 

I had proposed a reference linking system so that you could see a list of mods that are either Related, Required or Recommended.

 

Example:

 

Mod A is released

- Author adds link to the Official 1.2.0416 Patch as being Required

- Author adds link to 7-Zip as being Required

 

Mod B is released which is a language translation to Mod A

- Author adds link to Mod A as being required.

 

Mod C is released which is a modified plugin of Mod A (tweaks)

- Author adds link to Mod A as being required.

 

If the linkage is done correctly, Mod A will have a list showing Mod B and Mod C as dependents on this mod.

 

Who knows if Dark0ne will implement such a system but I do think it would be very nice.

I would imagine so but it is just an idea at this point.
