MegatonCommoner
I've been working on a custom companion recently, and thanks to the tutorials, suggestions, etc I've found on these forums (Id est lurking) I've been able to set up the dialog (unspoken at the moment), the follow, wait and leave.sandbox AI packages and pretty much everything else. As a whole, the Companion is fully functional... but I have a few problems I just can't seem to solve on my own and searching the forums for a solution has proven fruitless. Problem #1:As the title of this thread entails, the face doesn't appear in game. I've created a custom face via the Actor>NPC>Companion window (where you edit the characters AI, inventory, etc), I've also added custom Hair and Eyes. I set the NPC in the game, boot up and when I find the NPC in game, the face is totally different, the eyes are different, but the hair is the way its supposed to be. I'm stumped. I read that you're supposed to create a custom race for your companion and add the hair and eyes to that race, and I have done so, and assigned my companion to said race- but it does nothing. Another thing I read was that you were supposed to put a line of text in the Fallout.ini, Fallout Pref.ini, Fallout default.ini (don't have it in front of me, something like bLoadEGTFile=1 or something) under the display heading, and that would enable custom faces to appear. Nothing. Problem #2:This problem isn't that bad, just a little irksome. I've given my character a weapon from a mod I downloaded specifically for this purpose, but when I find the NPC in game, the character isn't carrying the weapon (its not even in their inventory) Any ideas as to why this is would be great. Problem #3: Not so much a problem, but I would like some guidance on it. Though I do have a custom hair (via mod) in place for the character, I was hoping to use Blender to make a custom hairdo for this character. I can't find a tutorial for this anywhere, like how make it to fit the Fo3 head models, getting it from Blender to GECK, all the tools required, etc. Anyone know of a good tutorial/resource that could help me in this pursuit? Found the Fallout3 Training Manual on Blender, Nifskope, Gimp and GECK. This should solve problem 3 for the moment! If I could find a solution to these problems, I'd be about 90% done with this mod- and that would be nice. xD Thanks in advance Edited September 10, 2012 by MegatonCommoner
M48A5
First, I have no idea how to make a mod, however I use quite a few of them. I would suggest that you download a custom companion and look at how the mod author has it set up. I do know the the Kelsey Companion http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/4473 and Jessi Companion http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/2732 both have the ability for the user to change both the faces and hairstyles. This might help you get yours setup. Edited September 10, 2012 by M48A5

Hopefully some kind modder will come along with the answers I seek. xD
