True, true. It would give you a nice outlet for your lore-friendly zeal. ;)

This has quite piqued my interest. It would also be a great way to add a bit of life to the roads of the game world in the form of the troupe travelling about. Slap a couple custom saddlebag meshes onto some cheap-looking horses and use those as pack animals, since travelling carts are pretty much impossible as-is. It shall be interesting to see how this develops...

Hey! I just thought of something else...

Do it Shakespeare style. Back in the day, when he had all his plays going on, he was using them to indirectly speak out against the King.

This could be similar. It could involve subtle propaganda and also ways to speak against them. Like what [Judy?] and Punch do, I think.

That would be kinda cool...if there was a monarch currently amongst the living in Cyrodiil. I suppose it could always be adapted to taunt the local aristocracy, but that just doesn't feel quite the same. Making fun of single, absolute rulers always has much more entertaining consequences than poking fun at some hinterlands contessa.

I'm talking more along the lines of Commercial Propaganda...

DOORS! DOORS! DOORS! xD

Anyway, they could be making light of certain situations subtly. If you're at a certain point in the Mages' Guild, then they may start talking about the burning of the Bruma Mages' Guild, or they tell stories about certain assassinations. I was serious when I said this could work for ANY character.

EDIT: And just for fun, have an NPC actor character play the Gray Fox... Give them the ACTUAL Coal of Nocturnal and have them walk into the area for the play. They'll start doing their lines and everyone will gank them. xD
