Bovel
What we know?- One year after the Oblivion Crisis, Elsweyr mimics Black Marsh and secedes from the Empire.- The Mane is assassinated before 4E 40 according to Lesspa in The Infernal City, leaving Elsweyr in chaos.- The moons disappear out of the sky in 4E 98, an event that is dubbed the Void Nights.- In 4E 100 the moons return and the Thalmor claim it is their doing.- The Confederacy is broken in 4E 115 and the khajiiti homeland return to their previous two northern and southern kingdoms, Anequina and Pelletine. Questions- Who killed the Mane?- What happened to the khajiit during the Void Nights? Their shape is determined by the moons at the time of birth. Did all litters for a two year period die?- Why did the khajiit trust the Thalmors' claim about restoring their moons? According to the words of Ahnissi (in-game book), it seems that the power to restore the moons is something khajiit consider a gift from the gods given to them alone and meant to be a secret to any other race of Nirni. (And Fadomai said, "The Khajiit must be the best climbers, for if Masser and Secunda fail, they must climb Khenarthi's breath to set the moons back in their courses.")- Why did the khajiit join the Dominion when the bosmer, also according to Ahnissi, can be considered the nemesis-race of the khajiiti? I got my own ideas on some events, but the story in its entirety feels left out by Bethesda in Skyrim, most likely because khajiit were very few in number and unimportant in the game. Please, make a distinction between what is your own ideas and theories and what is backed up by somewhere; be it in-game, a book or some interview with developers. cycloney911
Here are my thoughts. -Who killed the Mane?A- It could be possible that the assassination of the Mane was because of political reasons within Elsweyr. Similar to the Dark brotherhood quest line if you finished it or similar to the war of thrones in Hammerfell. Remember, the Dark brotherhood is not the only assassin guild around. -What happened to the khajiit during the Void Nights? Their shape is determined by the moons at the time of birth. Did all litters for a two year period die?A- If i read right, the book "The Great War" explains that a tower in Summerset isle can possibly make the twin moon disappear, we know for a fact that the elves in Summerset Isle have powerful magic, perhaps the disappearance was just powerful illusion magic? -- Why did the khajiit trust the Thalmors' claim about restoring their moons? According to the words of Ahnissi (in-game book), it seems that the power to restore the moons is something khajiit consider a gift from the gods given to them alone and meant to be a secret to any other race of Nirni. (And Fadomai said, "The Khajiit must be the best climbers, for if Masser and Secunda fail, they must climb Khenarthi's breath to set the moons back in their courses.")A- The Khajiit saw the elves as blessed servants of gods, hence joining them. (Read the book "The Great War" which is in Greybeard place. It tells about this event) -- Why did the khajiit join the Dominion when the bosmer, also according to Ahnissi, can be considered the nemesis-race of the khajiiti?A- Valenwood was part of the Aldmeri Dominon by then, perhaps they saw more towards the High elves of Summerset isles than the elves of Valenwood. Khajiit unimportant? J'zargo feels unease with your presence. Edited September 12, 2012 by cycloney911
Cthuloot
Khajiit thinks maybe this one should hope to travel to Elsweyr in TES6, no? From what I understand, the Aldmeri are sneaky little buggers. I'd have no doubt about them being behind the assassination of the Mane and the disappearance of the moons. Bovel
If i read right, the book "The Great War" explains that a tower in Summerset isle can possibly make the twin moon disappear..."During the crisis, the Crystal Tower was forced to give the Thalmor greater power and authority."This is the only mention of the tower in the book. But I think I can see your reasoning and it's a good theory. Thalmor (who has been around and plotting before Oblivion) using the crisis to be empowered and then use that power to overthrow, manipulate and shape the new Dominion. The Khajiit saw the elves as blessed servants of gods, hence joining them."The Thalmor announced that they had restored the moons using previously unknown Dawn Magicks, but it is unclear if they truly restored the moons or just took advantage of foreknowledge that they would return."It doesn't mention gods or anything but there's a line where it says khajiit trusted the elves and considered them their saviours, still that doesn't make sense to me from a cat-point-of-view. With their perspective on the world, they'd be the last people to trust the elves on this, crediting other khajiit with the return of the moons OR believing the end is near.
