  1. Now it was a while since I made some noise in this place. Let's stop with that stupidity! Despite my lack of posts the blog is still very active, posted a new post just yesterday. And after some soul-searching and recommendations by friends, I have now expanded my own presence on the interwebz. Joined a few sites (which I have no idea how they really work!) and some communities, created some pages and what not. All to advertise, update and share my creative work, not only the TES RPG project. Here's a list of where you can find me and what can be found on the various sites: The Blog - This is still my main project right now and will continue being about my TES RPG and the creative process of running it.Google+ - More or less the hub of Bearded Bovel (me). This place is connected to all the other places.Facebook - Traditional page about me and my work. This will also feature updates about other projects such as my upcoming LARP and even WoW RP.Twitter - Get the latest updates about what I do and where, not so much content as updates I guess.Tumblr. - Here I'll upload and/or link pictures and images that other have made that I like, am inspired by or apply to my projects. My little cavern of inspirational tidbits.deviantART - I will feature my pure stories here, both ones tied to the blog and the TES project but also from other RPG's I've been a part of or have/am running/planning.YouTube - Getting ahead of myself a little bit here, but in the future I hope to do a roleplay-oriented Let's Play of at least one TES-game. Similar to that of Jingles1215. But until then the channel will be a place for me to have my playlists of great sourcematerial, inspirational clips and even music for roleplaying sessions. So if you enjoy the blog or roleplay or Elder Scrolls, take a look at what I offer and support me if you like what you see, ok-bye?
  2. Shameless advertisement for the blog! (I fear that there will be a few of these every now and then, I know no other way to spread info about it...) Three more posts are out since last time, some with questions aimed at you readers so feel free to interact with us on the blog. So far the story still continues to cover the first few sessions of the campaign before I dive into posts about the creative process. The last part of Flies to Honey is up as well as first and second post out of an unknown number under the name In the Spider's Web. The third part should be released early next week. Also, I have tried adding pictures to some posts to spice things up, what do you think about it, Yay or Nay?
  3. Yes and no. I too miss the sewers and almost endless tunnels in Oblivion. It made playing a thief and an assassin that much more fun. But for Skyrim I don't think it should be as expansive. One, because the cities are smaller and it wouldn't really offer that much to have a network of tunnels in each of them, rather make a few stealthy ways to move around a city that can include sewers but also allows one to reach the top of walls and so on. Two, because you don't want to lead water too deep in a place where you have ground frost, that would just be stupid. What I would like to see though, which might not be fully related to this idea, is the second level of the nordic houses we see in Bruma. Northernmost city of Cyrodiil which had many nordic influences to their architecture, where did it go? Cellars make sense because it allows for greater preservation of heat and shields parts of the house from cold, howling winds.
  4. I guess it's not technically a television show... but it is a show! Yogscast - Lewis & Simon caught my eye when they played a Minecraft map called "the Dropper" and I've seen much of their stuff now the last month or so. At the moment I am watching their attempt at a map that mimics Portal 2 co-op and it is bloody hilarious! Chech it out here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wveIyYM8RBQ.
  5. I'm a sucker for "dubstep", yeah Skrillex and such which people who really like Dubstep would rage at but nonetheless. The other week I found "Far Too Loud" and have been listening to a few of the songs over and over, here's a taste; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVGCaqoLw40. But I have to admit something, Miley Cyrus' latest track is stuck in my mind, whenever it pops up on the radio I find myself singing along, so I guess I like it after all. The shame... Other than this I have also been listening to some native american flute music trying to find pieces that would fit my bosmer jaqspur who also plays a bone-flute.
  6. I was playing Skyrim, to finally finish it because I honestly haven't come far... I'm too curious for my own good. And I was playing Fallout 3 to try Broken Steel for once. But then my graphic card got sizzled... *sigh* There was also some Magic 2014 but have just started it. And of course me and a LARPing mate is trying to get through Minecraft together, the Wither-fight is coming up and then we will head for the End! Wow, one too many gaming-balls in the air at the moment. Guess my graphic card gave me a break! EDIT: This just reminded me, I just bought Mars: War Logs and now I can't even play it.... WHY?!
  7. I can shamefully admit that the last movie I saw was "the Hobbit", about five months after its release... Not sure what happened there, as a faithful LARP:er I should have been at the premiere with my hairy feet. Anyhows, I enjoyed it and it made me want to read the book again as well as more of Tolkien's early releases. Sure, some things didn't make sense and a few other things contradicted my own image of Middle-earth, but I still liked it.
  8. I am reading 'Mechanicus', a book set in the Warhammer 40K universe but before the dark age of space and the first death of the emperor at the hands of Horus, so I guess Warhammer 31K? I've always fancied the tech priests in WH 40K and that's why I got the book in the first place, and it really offers an insight to what a mighty power they were and just how much understanding of technology has been lost. So far it has been great, epic places and machines but not really much of a plot going on about 1/5 into the book.
  9. Women are able to practice the thu'um and stay at High Hrothgar, just look at Ulfric. But in all seriousness I believe they can both train the art but also become the part, a greybeard of the order. The reason we have yet to see or hear of it though might because of gender inequality. I'm not sure if there is any basis to it, but I believe that nords are quite patriarchal as a people. Take the jarls for example, we have a few women but none of them are big, strong and have shown glory in combat (as far as we know). One is old and knowledgeable of magic, another has her position because of marriage and comes off as a bit too young and frail for the task, and the last one is not really in power herself since another woman in town has contacts. It would be interesting to see/hear/read about the path of the female greybeard, their struggles and their benefits for being the gender attributed to Kyne.
  10. I threw vote for Clavicus Vile even though his realm is described as pretty similar to Tamriel. The reason is because I love the idea of it being pretty, alluring and pleasant at a distance but the closer you get, everything is just horrible. Main reason might be because I have implemented this realm in my PnP roleplay and it hilarious to put a breton through walking the hills and farmlands of her home Camlorn only to disappointed and horrified for every other detail she examines. Burning leaves in the backgarden? It's human flesh! Walk down a quaint cobbled road? The stones are all jagged. My vision of his realm is like an oil painting or impressionism, looks good at a certain distance but is ugly or doesn't make sense up close. Oh EnaiSiaion, meeting Weeping Angel-like enemies in the Quagmire would be awesome, something like this; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xj446LPEy7E. Or the stalkers from Dead Space. For some reason, despite us having both Namira and Nocturnal, I feel that the essence of Vaermina's realm should be all the things, thought and ideas that makes you afraid of the dark. I get the point and sort of agree, Hircine as a character is quite flat because his realm of influence is so stylized with clichés. But I wouldn't say that he doesn't stand for anything, but rather that he stands for survival, more specific survival of the fittest at any cost. Despite the lack of depth I would still love to see an adventure set in his realm styled just like billyro put it, being a hunter but most of all being hunted. A scenario where you have to run from some of your enemies and be smart about what you do, not just activate Elemental Fury and slash away with a pair of axes. Ever since I read 'The Infernal City' I've had the idea of a survival adventure under Hircine's influence. One might just appear in my roleplay campaign.
  11. I'm on some sort of roll here and I have no plans to stop now that my potbelly is in motion (picture Wailmer with a doodle of hair rolling down a slope). This sunday I managed to publish the first part about the first two sessions of the campaign. And today I released the second part. All in all I think the initial events of the campaign which set the story will be covered in six parts total and I will release the third post at the end of this week, so make sure to keep an eye out for it. Please, feel free to bring me any feedback, good or bad as long as it is constructive but also feel free to ask me questions!
  12. Wow, I certainly get no treats for my activity... I just wanna bring about an update about this project because despite the lack of text on the blog, it hasn't been dropped. When I first started this back in fall I had started writing my bachelor paper and thought I would get some spare time both for actual roleplaying and tending to the blog although I misjudged the situation. My chosen subject proved a lot more trickier than expected and spring that followed was comprised of almost only placements for about fifteen weeks. My motivation has been tested and oscillated due to troubles finding suitable dates for sessions with my player, mainly because half of us graduated this summer and people are moving and starting to work and all that. All in all, it has been hard to keep things going but I assure that it is not forgotten. This week I have been home with stomach flu so I've had some spare time to write down new stuff, work on brand new character sheets and the thought hit me that I can finish another blog post, or a few... who knows? I just wanted to do a shout-out to the forum(s) that at least one new post can be expected sometime tonight or tomorrow and that I should be able to update the blog even more up to the end of August. What happens past that date is a worry for another time. Lastly, I wanna finish this post with an open question to all of you who reads this; is there anything you want me to cover in a post? Has some question come up when reading through the first three posts or are you really excited for me to read how I plan (if at all) to involve a famous faction or even character into the story? Any feedback or questions are greedily embraced! EDIT: I'm not sure how, maybe that extra energy drink I had, but I finished and published the fourth post, make sure to check it out! http://feartamriel.blogspot.se/2013/07/greedy-beginnings.html
  13. How would you suggest I type down what I'm doing? So far it's mentioned in the blog header and the first post as well as touched upon in the second post both via my original plans for the Elder Scrolls universe and where I go into which RPG system I've chosen to use. I guess this ties back to what it all is about, there is a description of it in the blog header and is touched upon deeply in the first post and mentioned in the second. Again, how do you suggest I clarify this? As for the other questions I must actually say they are answered pretty straight forward in the third post: Where - campaign not bound to one place on Tamriel but starts out in Elsweyr and we will likely avoid or at least postpone RP set in Skyrim. When - 4E Year 171, not sure I can be much more specific about it than that, well perhaps mention that it was during late summer or early fall but it was a detail I was saving for the fourth post. Why is it you feel these questions have not been properly answered? Or rather, what are your questions? And when it comes to progress I can only stress the fact that the blog is merely a week old. The reason you might find it "slow" is because it is detailed and that in turn is because I want to be thorough in sharing my choices, what I ended up sticking with and what I tossed away -AND WHY- I made those choices. For example there is another layer to why I picked Bravil as the starting point for the main plot but it would seem out of place if added into the third post, but I assure you it will come in either the fourth or fifth addition depending on how long they'll end up being.
  14. The first post is just a fun introduction post written in a semi-in-character-perspective of myself as a daedric prince, if you don't get all the hints you might just not be as drowned in the TES lore as myself. The second post is about the general premiss of the campaign and the group and also that post written in the daedra-perspective. The third post is a very general introduction to the plot overall, what setting I chose and why. So do you care clarify why you consider it "not really saying anything" and any tips on how it can be altered? And as far as progress goes, you are only three posts into the blog. The fourth post will describe the first adventure and things in more detail and soon enough there'll be presentations both about the player's character as well as my own NPCs and how I play them in Skyrim.
  15. Third post posted, the next one will be the first post to cover the actual story.
