BeefPie
Mine is kinda like that. Lag when you quickly turn to an area, almost as if it hasn't loaded it and doesn't want you to see. I am using an ENB though, and the Skyrim 2K texutres (Lite) as well as numerous others. It does kill immersion, and as stated in another thread I started my saves bloat too - Skyrim isn't running the best for me right now :( Specs:AMD Phenom II x3 ~2.8GHz (considering OC)NVIDIA GTX560 SE4GB DDR2 (trying to upgrade)Resolution at 1650x1080. My PC isn't the greatest,as you can see, but I am playing with 2x AA and Antistrophic, relatively high view distance/fade and FXAA with full water effects. Around 40-50 FPS generally, these drops just freeze it though. And the occasional random drop and long loading screen. Mine isn't isolated to anything in particular, although I get near zero lag in a Draugr dungeon :D
WillhelmScream
Well, in that case, what is also running on your machine? What is your AV?Your firewall? Have you an Antirootkit? I would advise to take an anti malware over your system, and in extreme cases use an live anti virus boot cd. If all that does not work, try to get help in an anti-troyan site. Run Hijack-This and give the guys and gals there the protocol. But from your descriptions it looks as if something is working on your hard drive in overtime. Thanks for the tips.Im using microsoft security essentials free. My firewall, the default windows one I think. Not sure if I have an antirootkit or not, my guess is no I dont.To be honest I'm a bit of a noob with this type of stuff so I will try my best. Hopefully its pretty straight forward. Yeah I have very little lag in dungeons too.
bakafool
Hmm.. it could be caused by some programs running in the background. Try disabling your anti virus and your firewall when playing. You can try gamebooster.Use it to disable all non essential programs when playing. Oh and does the name superherohype means anything to you? 8)

Berserker2012
Hi, there! My specs are rather low:Core i3 530, 2,9 MHz, RAM 2 Gb (will be upgraded), Video (ancient) GeForce GTS 250 (will be upgraded), OS Win XP Pro. I play Skyrim on medium settings and encounter the same problem like most: drop of FPS in open areas (it's ok in dungeons), esp. when riding a horse, and often game crashes to desktop. My question is: Will purchsing a GeForce GTX 650 be enough to run Skyrim with HiRes texture pack mod at Ultra settings without crashes to desktop? Or I need something higher? I dont' have enough finances to buy a new powerful PC, but I do want to play Skyrim on ultra settings like most progressive people, and hope to solve my problem with a better video card. Game booster is a freeware. When you start the program, run the diagnostic and it will tell you what programs are running in the background and which are not essentials and safe to stop when you're playing a game. It's noob friendly. That's why i suggested it. I sometimes also gets stuttering when playing Skyrim , and usually it's because i forgot that that my PC is running backup or there's some scanning in the background. And yeah LOL...it's your username. Wilhelmscream.Superherohype is the ultimate nerd/geek forum and there was once a pretty well known user using the name Wilhelmscream there. Let us know if gameboster works out for you. It's also might be helpfull if you post your mod list. Your problem can also be caused by a mod.It can be mod conflict, and it can also be that you once used a scripts heavy mod and you did not un-installed it right, which leaves it's script running in the background and causing all sorts of problem. All bethesda games, while mods friendly, can sometimes be fickle when it comes to mods. Good luck! Edited October 11, 2012 by bakafool
LucDeveroux
Thanks for the tips.Im using microsoft security essentials free. My firewall, the default windows one I think. That's the reason why I wrote about going to an anti trojan site. The MSE and the Windows Firewall are actually pretty useful. The only thing missing is a behavioral antivirus. Unfortunately I have to look for a new one myself, as Threatfire is no longer free. You can download theKaspersky Rescue Disc 10 for free, burn it and than boot from it. It will run over your system and looks for anything that should not be there. Also You should run Spybot Search&Destroy. That should take care of "utilities" that you don't want, don't know you have and that take in the worst case a enormous percentage of your system resources. Also known as spyware. You need 2 tools for that because spyware is not malware, and the spyware makers have successfully sued the antivirus makers to not remove their "utilities" with the anti viruses. After that use the Kaspersky Rootkit Killer. If all that did not help, try to find a forum that helps with trojan infection. I can't really help you there as english is not my primary language, and I don't believe that you are helped with a german speaking forum.
