Quest Scripting: Rescues and Storming castles

Sorry, this info request is only related to Rescues. I have yet to create any quests more challenging than the "courier letter" type, but I sure want to learn more. This isn't a mod request, this is a request for information.

 

I'd like to create a quest to rescue an npc out of jail. Once that is done, the npc will be available as a follower. I have looked at a quest with Derkeethus in Darkwater pass and understand that triggers are needed, but don't comprehend the quest writing.

 

I have a mod with a follower/trainer npc sitting in a jail cell inside a "dungeon". There are Thalmor guards. Naturally the way it is right now, without quests or Ai packages, the Thalmor attack the prisoner npc and when I kill them and open her cell, she is available for training and will follow me. I would like it if I need to help the npc to escape before being allies, and once I release the npc from the prison she'll go back "home" unless I say "follow me".

You definitely need to know the basics of quest design and in your case a bit more knowledge on top of that (how to bundle Packages with Aliases). The CK wiki provides a very good tutorial on the basic and intermediate quest designs. You should be able to find what you need there. I have only basic knowledge of the quest system so far (honestly its a pain to learn but pays off 10 times over once you do). When you are learning the quest system go through the quests of Skyrim in the CK and just look at their structure. It is very helpful in trying to understand Aliases. Edited by Vandrath
