Walruscopter
A while ago I downloaded https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/22910 . I think I got an early version, no memory of an esp etc. like now. Anyway, I want rid of it but I can't get it to stop. I can delete everything to do with it, I even tried installing the new version and using its in-game disable option but the sound effect will not go away no matter what I do. I've deleted all folders etc. so I guess my question is what could try next? I'm at a loss and have been trying various things for months. Any assistance would be very appreciated :)
Di3sIrae
Humm, let's see. The mod uses scripts, so it is tied to your save game. You'll need to remove it manually. Install the mod normally, and look at your load order for it's position there. There are two characters that indicates it's position, like 02, A1 or something like that. Fallout4 is 00, for all that matters. Start with it.Enter the game, and type in console:player.removeperk xx000f9c xx being the order of the plugin.Optionally, you can open all plugins in xEdit, and take the exact ID, like this:https://i.postimg.cc/ysRKj0jR/fadfadf.jpgSince the mod is a plugin that adds a Perk to the character, maybe removing the perk will free you of it's effects.Alternatives could be removing anything related to the mod before removing the perk: Using "player.dispel xx000f9a" and "player.dispel xx0035a0"Using "player.removespell xx000f99"*After removing Magic Effects, Spell and the perk from player, save the game, close it, uninstall the mod and open the game, do a save and test again. If it doesn't work, then you could try cleaning a custom save (make a backup of your main save) with FallrimTools. Do know that it can break some mods, but i can't exactly tell how to find the exact script in the program. Maybe you can do some search... But only load the save game AFTER you uninstalled the mod, so it can appear as an orphan script.
Walruscopter
Thankyou so much! I thought it might be something like that but I had no understanding of how you'd tackle that, thankyou again! Will give that a shot :) Edited July 25, 2019 by Walruscopter
Walruscopter
The first idea doesn't work sadly. It removes the perk from the esp version but the issue persists. The problem seems to be from the original installation of the mod not the new esp version, it's still running for some infuriating reason.
Di3sIrae
Do you still have the old version? You could try extracting it so you can see what exactly id adds. If there were no esp, then it must have been a replacer for the hit sound of weapons, that might still be in your Data folder. This is the only way you can still be listening to this, since without scripts you won't have something that is not in the vanilla game.
Walruscopter
I don't know. I lost my windows profile a while back, maybe it's still out there somewhere, will try. That was what I tried first, can't see a thing sadly. Nothing there that matches.
Walruscopter
I couldn't find anything. I did find an old version available to download on the page though so i tried that, didn't help.
Di3sIrae
Uh, that's why i love Mod Organizer.Does it still play in a new game?If so, then the mod is still active somehow. If not, have you tried everything i told you to do? (removespell and dispell and cleaning the save with Fallrim Tools)
Walruscopter
I'll try in a new game, have tried everything but Fallrim as you said it could break stuff and the comments are full of backup for that.
Di3sIrae
Make a backup of the save, then use fallrimtools and test, just to see if removing an orphan script can do the trick. You can try the tedious task of looking at each script and trying to find the right one, if it works...
