EojjN
To be honest I think that this is something Bethesda will have in mind probably for a future game...It would be a massive story development for the Dwemer to return.
sajuukkhar9000
Having the Dwemer come back would be difficult as they fused their souls into the body of Numidium, a giant robot they had built , in order to be anti-created so they could escape the mortal realm. Having them come back could require a Deus Ex Machina even larger then the Warp in the West. Edited September 20, 2012 by sajuukkhar9000
SpaceDogTaz
I don't need them as a playable race. But I would love to be able to explore more ruins & learn more of their lore.
Aliera Caine
How do you know that an affronted Azura (Azura and the Box) didn't snatch away all the Dwemer before Kagrenac's tools could strike the Heart? She was probably angry enough to drop them into Oblivion and wipe her hands of the whole lot. Or maybe not! http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/teehee.gif Edited September 21, 2012 by Aliera Caine

Also, Azura and the box is a work of fiction, and described as such. Edited September 21, 2012 by sajuukkhar9000
huntsman2310
I want a dlc that lets you explore the inner reaches of the Dwemer cities, like say, going to Kagrenac's workshop, or accidentally activating a humanoid dwemer centurion that was the original prototype for the Numidium golem. That'd be sweet. Note, I don't to actually meet or see the Dwemer themselves, that would ruin their legacy for me.
Lachdonin
I want a dlc that lets you explore the inner reaches of the Dwemer cities, like say, going to Kagrenac's workshop, or accidentally activating a humanoid dwemer centurion that was the original prototype for the Numidium golem. That'd be sweet. Note, I don't to actually meet or see the Dwemer themselves, that would ruin their legacy for me. The biggest problem with this part is that we're currently in the wrong province. Kagrenac worked out of the Dwemer capital at Red Mountain, and while he did have some labs scattered around Vardenfel, traveling to Skyrim would have taken too much time out of his day to day work of... you know... Creating a god. Now, as much as the Report to Tribonius is accepted as the explination for the dissapearance of the Dwemer, there is still some vagueness to it. Formost amongst that is Yagrum, who actually beleives his people were transported into the outer realms. Theres enough ambiguity that Bethesda could change the 'truth' (which is a subjective term at the best of times) to bring them back. Still, i don't think that would be particularly well serving. Bear in mind, also, that the Dwemer in Skyrim bear little resemblance to the Dwemer of Morrowind, as described in the Report and by Diavayth Fyr (as opposed to the mostly empty ruins), They are far more violent in their depiction, rather than the spiritual, philosophic Dwemer of Morrowind. In particular, Fyr's depiction of the Dwemer as actually being a Chimer house (the 7th, in fact) has no grounds in the Skyrim Dwemer.
huntsman2310
^ Well, maybe this hypothetical dlc could have you discovering one of the outer stations of a huge underground rail network built by the Dwemer, a sort of motorized 'Deep Roads'. And from there, you zip along to the remnants of Red Mountain, although that would just retread old ground I guess.
SpaceDogTaz
Have I come on here to debating? I love it! XD Lol I wish, if people knew how to properly debate. That was more like a shouting argument which is why I decided to end it :P Well. This DLC idea is NOT making Dwemer playable. The whole point of it is - for people to understand the mystery of the Dwemer a bit more then they do. That's the kind of DLC I would die for! Gahh the Dwemer are such an amazing lore-filled race with so much mystery surrounding them. Could you imagine if all the Chinese people in the world just vanished one day at the exact same time, leaving stoves burning and cars in the middle of the road as if they were just momentarily going away? That's just so mind boggling. Me? I'm a Dwemer enthusiast. I go around with Dwemer Armour, with my Artherium Staff, summoning Worker Spiders to my defence - but that's me. Haha I'm a Dwemer enthusiast too, and on my first playthrough I did primarily use their armor. My character currently is using the Dawnguard armor because imo it's the best looking in the game, and he's a warrior so the staff really isn't an option at this point :/. However I do use Dwemer weapons like the arrows and swords. I would just like to actually understand the Dwemer a bit more... I tell you... when you've read tons of books on them, you get addicted. Hahah. Yup you said it mate, took the words right out of my mouth...or...in this case right from my keyboard ;P. The reason I also thought Calcelmo would be a great person to help you along with this is because he is the most recognized Scholar of the Dwemer in all of Tamriel. Yeah I agree that if there ever is an official DLC involving the Dwemer that Calcelmo should be an integral part. And I was thinking of a quest that lets you take him down to the civilization so he can examine it, and talk to the ancient Dwemer inhabitants. This is the only part you kind of lost me at. Again I already said this, but I don't think that would be a fulfilling enough explanation personally. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, but Bethesda could probably make a much more convincing and enthralling lore based story behind it. Maybe Bethesda kept this so long is because they don't know... And they want to make a DLC explaining it a bit more, and maybe... just maybe... They are this moment making a DLC for Skyrim, to unravel the mysteries of the Dwemer. God we can only hope..:D I would love to see a dlc like this for the dwemer. I really like exploring their ruins and reading about their life & lore. I'm on a pc so I have several mods for some ruins but I want more !!!!!!!! They gave the vampire & werewolf people there dlc. Now give us ours....
