Hey everyone! Hope you all can help me here, recently tried to download a mod called "morrowind comes alive" and after I installed it I ran a game only to find out over half the npc body parts were not in the mod!! So what I would like to do is do the same thing but do it right ! ^_^ One of the things I want to do is have it so that the npc's already in the game go indoors at night and that the shops close at certin (?) hours ( to give the chance to really do some shoplifting without killing anyone) I have seen posts on this but like I said the one that I found didn't work right. So what I need from you all is do all I have to do is change the type of AI the npc uses or is there some scripting ( :o !!) involved? Or is there even more involved to pull something like this off? Hope to hear from you all soon, and if you can help thanks!! :)

Let me get this straight...

You've downloaded a plugin that doesn't work correctly. Instead of asking for help making it work or perhaps contacting the mod's author to ask if there are any third-party art files necessary, you want to -- and correct me if I'm wrong -- make your own plugin, from scratch, that does exactly the same thing...

...And let me get another thing straight...

You want to go about this with -- again, correct me if I'm wrong -- absolutely no scripting knowledge...

...Is this correct?

ha.ha

this is funny... this is really funny...

don't ya think

the author

of this plugin

would want to make his plugin work

so why don't you

e-mail, message, fax, call, yell really loud

get his attention, and tell him your problem

I think that would be alot easier than starting over...

its kinda like: The beam doesn't fit into its slot. Lets go cut down a whole new tree and start over.

C'mon man..

I do agree with what these guys are saying but i have a tendency to be nicer than I should be, or ^they^ have a tendency to be meaner than they should be.

Anyway this mod works really well.

edit: can someone tell me why a 105k file will not attach?? sorry dunmer_jedi, but if you PM me your e-mail adress or post it I can get you the mod via E-mail...

;) Ya know ... I've found that some people who make mods don't test the install properly and sometimes the files (or part of them) go to a folder other than the one they need to be in. The 'Pardners' mod does this with the *.wav files. It unzips them into a folder that is not the one the scripts are looking for, and the mod crashes when a wav file is called. The fix is easy. I won't go into it here, but a competent modder should be able to figure out how to make the files go to the folder they are intended to ....

Could be that the same situation is causing the 'Morrowind Alive' mod to crash, too.

ok I am not being clear here. I liked the ideal of the mod and I am in the process of telling the author that it does not work. But what I am after is to create a mod like it OF MY OWN !! Why is that so wrong? as I said in an earlier post, yes I know little about scripting but you learn by doing.IF you can't help me THEN DON"T POST!! If you can then any advice you can give will be extreamly grateful. ^_^ .

Hey everyone! Hope you all can help me here, recently tried to download a mod called "morrowind comes alive" and after I installed it I ran a game only to find out over half the npc body parts were not in the mod!!

first, creating your own mod is not wrong. Your complaint was that the 'Morrowind Alive' mod had half of the body parts missing. They are not missing. You have obviously installed to a folder other than the correct folder.

second, there is advice in my previous post.

third, I downloaded and installed the mod today just to see if there was a problem with it. (There is NOT. It installs and works fine.)

fourth, you would learn more by reading posts and examining existing mods in the Construction Set to see how they are put together instead of crying because a mod doesn't perform the way you want.

fifth, you are correct in saying you are 'not being clear' about what you really want.

There is a wealth of information in this forum and the other Morrowind forums. You would do well to read a little before you say something is not working, and before you try to get someone to write your mod for you ....

ok I have cooled down some now. Read some of the comments at the site were the mod is at and someothers were haveing the same problem I was. It seems that there is a second mod is needed for it to work. I am doing this now. And now I am wondering if anyone out there is willing to give me a little advice ( only advice) to help me let me, and only me, write a mod like this one. I don't know if this is clear enough and if it isn't I am sorry and I won't try any thing like this post again. All I wanted was some harmless advice, not comments about not puting files in the wrong folder or not installing them properly, but just some advice.

The kind of TECS changes you'll need to make a mod like that are far more complicated than can be explained in a single thread. There are a couple of good scripting tutorials to be found on this website; looking at them would be a good start. You might also want to look at some of the texturing/ modelling tutorials.

Finally checking out the scripts used by other mods can be useful for making your own.
