TotallyNotToastyFresh
Hello. This is my first post on these particular forums. Yes, I can't figure out how to get a mod to work. Before you lock this, mods, please try to understand my confusion, and that I have read the stickies, I have searched, and I am NOT new to forums in general. I know how angry mods get when some n00b asks a question that everyone else knows, being a mod on another forum myself. I know how much of a n00b I must look like right now, but I'm at my wit's end. Now, I don't understand the way .omod files work. I have downloaded specific mods and have gotten them to work. They were in .omod format, and had no problem with them. But I went and downloaded DarkUId DarN, and I unzipped it. I saw these files: configdatadata.crcimagereadmescript Now, after doing some reading on the 'net, I realised that these are the files that make up an .omod. Now, what I don't understand, is why aren't these files in the .omod format? Do I have to compress them to the .omod format myself? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks for listening. -Toasty
bben46
For more info on OMODs, check out these sites http://timeslip.chorrol.com/ http://lhammonds.game-host.org/obmm/ Hope this helps
Tchos
For any "OMOD-ready" file, you need to open Oblivion Mod Manager, click the "create" button, and click "add archive". The archive is your zipped file. If it is indeed OMOD-ready, it will ask you if you want to import the data, and you say yes. Then click "create" and that should turn it into an OMOD file. TotallyNotToastyFresh
Thanks for the help. :) @bben46: I'll try having a read through those, and see what I come up with. @Tchos: Well, the mod that I downloaded (DarkUId DarN), does not come with any OMOD conversion data. Could it be that I got a corrupt download or something?
dezdimona
you can turn any 7zip file into an omod, and its very easy to doIf you DL'd an omod file the omod is there .packed with the other info
Tchos
Yes, like Dez says, if there's no conversion data, that just means you have to fill in the name and author info before you click "create".
TotallyNotToastyFresh
OK. But what was confusing me before, (I had actually tried to create the OMOD and filled in the name and author) was that when I activated it, no new .esps came up. So, I tried doing what you said and activated it and started Oblivion, but there was nothing new.
LHammonds
We can guess what is wrong all day long. I suggest you open OBMM, right-click on the problematic OMOD and select "Info" and copy/paste everything here so we can see how the OMOD was packaged. OMOD files are extracted directly to Oblivion's Data folder so the archive needs to be similar to this: Meshes\*Textures\*MyMod.espMyMod Readme.txt If you have something that looks like this, it will NOT work: MyMod\Data\Meshes\*MyMod\Data\Textures\Meshes\*MyMod\MyMod.espMyMod\MyMod Readme.txt

This thing I downloaded was not actually in the OMOD format. It was just a .zip file. The other .omods I got were in a zip file, and inside the .zip file was a .omod. LHammonds
I understand exactly what you are saying. If you were having a problem with an OMOD you downloaded, you'd probably be posting in its comment area or posting a link to it and having us figure out what is wrong with it. Normally, these kinds of questions are due to creating an OMOD from an archive that is not OMOD compatible (meaning you have to make modifications to the files inside the archive before OMOD conversion. The info section you posted is proof of that. I noticed this line in what you posted: File size: 17 megabytes This tells me that there is "something" in your OMOD rather than it being empty. The lack of a "plugin list" section tells me that there is no plugin that will affect the game in any way. This is OK if you are creating a texture or mesh replacer though. This part shows me all the rest of the files contained in the mod: [Complete data file list] config (EEAE09B8) data (0641CB18) data.crc (33AC3BC8) image (44ACFF79) readme (EE5C2571) script (40CD443C) This certainly isn't what I expected to see which explains why your OMOD is not working. I recommend taking your mod's original archive and extracting it to a temporary folder somewhere and cleaning it up before importing into OBMM. I'd use the "Import Folder" option to grab the mod folder you configured when ready. Tutorial: Reconditioning a downloaded mod archiveTutorial: How To Create ArchivesTutorial: How to Create an OMODTutorial: How to convert an OMOD to and OMOD-Ready archive Below is an example of a working OMOD "info" which shows the plugin and all the included Meshes and Textures.
