FO3 not starting anymore without FO3Edit Masterupdate

...as the topic says, I masterupdated the game with a bunch of mods running to solve some annoying bugs like:

 

- I had to kill myself everytime when loaded a savegame because else it would crash when I tried to make a new save... (annoying as hell)

 

so I was really happy that masterupdate took care of that.

 

Now I would like to try the new Remastered and Blackened plugins (using FWE, EVE, MMM, WMK, and many building and animation mods).

Meaning replacing all FOIPs (WMK excluded because it is not addressed by Blackend)

 

BUT the problem is the game won´t start anymore if I try to start it without masterupdating everything! I know there must be a esp seeking a mother-esm or sth. but

I don´t know how to locate it... is there a way in FOMM or FO3Edit to run a check on that or sth. without disabling the mods 1 for 1? And I don´t want to get the bugs

back it solved... the game is really much smoother with it.

 

I heard that Remastered plugins won´t work with masterupdating the game, would it be possible to load the Remastered plugins after the merged patch without masterupdating them?

 

I hope you guys can help I am new to FO3 and maybe you have any ideas which could help?

 

Would you recommend using Blackenend and Remastered plugins over FOIP at al? Would the huzzle be worth it even to reinstall FO3 and start a new game? (lvl 14 now...)

WMK is not compatible with Remastered

 

 

yes, I heared that so I stick with following resolution:

 

unchecked FOIP for MMM, FWE & EVE

 

checked FOIP for WMK (seems to work without problems witn Blackened)

 

Put Blackened MMM + FWE + EVE (Ignition Merge) merge Plugin and masterupdated the load list with merged patch.

 

 

It seems the game is very stable and everything looks and feels right. It is also a bit smoother, I think due to the deactivated FOIP plugins.

 

As far I understand its less plugins less problems with stability, right?

 

 

I won´t go for Remastered right now, I´m not up to reinstall and start over the game and it is Beta atm, So maybe for the next round...

What made you think you needed to reinstall and start a new game just for Remastered? That would be utterly ridiculous.

 

As far the Beta status goes: The Nexus Mod Manager is still in Beta too, but that doesn't seems to stop people from downloading that one either.

You don't masterupdate the game, you merely masterupdate all selected plugins.

Naturally. Just disable them before running masterupdate.

My problem is still that without masterupdating all the plugins with FO3edit the game will crash at the loading screen. I just can´t make sense out of that... I can´t see a esp plugin looking for

the esm master or such.

Not entirely.


  1.  
  2. Disable Remastered + patches + Blackened patches.
  3. Use masterupdate on the rest of your load order.
  4. Make merged patch.
  5. Enable Remastered + patches + Blackened.

It can if you know your way around Fo3Edit. If not, put it right above Remastered.

Ok, I tried that... didn´t work...

 

I also never knew you can masterupdate the plugins before making a merged patch?

 

see my loadorder.... at the bottom I have some self-merged plugins for Race and NPS adjustments. My merged patch is NEWMASTER.

 

I tried to load that with Remastered and Blackened AFTER my merged patch as yout told me but it didn´t work.

it ended in a ctd when I loaded the savegame... :-(

 

Note: I know Project beauty isn´t compatible with Lings, so the Project Beauty esm is not active! I rerouted the project beauty .esp´s to Lings.esm like

told in the readme.

Also WMK is running with FOIP. MMM, EVE Ignition and FWE are running with Blackened plugin. (I don´t think I need the + Project Beauty since .esm is

not ticked anyway.)

 

I´m pretty much beginner in FO3 so don´t be too hard with me about the loadorder. Any advice is also very much appreciated! thanks in advance!

Note: I know Project beauty isn´t compatible with Lings, so the Project Beauty esm is not active! I rerouted the project beauty .esp´s to Lings.esm like

told in the readme.

If I recall well, that procedure of "rerouting" .esp's was meant for mods relying on HairPack.esm only. Not for Project Beauty.

 

Speaking of which, HairPack is also incompatible with Lings. If you have plugins relying on that mod as a master, then you can use the procedure as described in Lings's readme to make them rely on Lings instead.

 

The most likely reason why your game crashes is exactly because you've attempted to reroute the project beauty .esp's to Lings. The Blackened FWE + MMM + EVE.esp, for example, naturally relies on Project Beauty too. The same is true for the Remastered Project Beauty patch. Mess up anything about Project Beauty and weird stuff is bound to happen.

 

If you decide on keeping Project Beauty instead of Lings or Hairpack, then you'll need to re-download Project Beauty's plugins and replace the old versions of them with the downloaded ones. If only to be certain they point to the correct master again.

Another thing to take into consideration: If you've used masterupdate on the Blackened FWE + MMM + EVE.esp patch too, then you'll need to replace it with a new copy.
