ThunderCluck
Hey guys! I almost never use forums, but I'm having a slight issue that a google search and youtube videos aren't helping. I'm trying to get started with the creation kit, so I decided to start as simple as possible-- and it's still not working. I'm taking an iron sword, dragging it into riverwood (Tried outside and in the riverwood trader)Saved the the file in skyrims data folder. Alas, no sword. When I go back to the creation kit and load up the locations, they arent showing up being placed there either. What am I doing wrong? Other quick notes: on the mods section in settings, the name of the mod shows up. Under loot, the name of the mod shows up, but doesn't have a green check next to it. Any advise is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
IsharaMeradin
In your mod manager make sure the plugin is marked as activated (for most mod managers this is denoted by a check mark). Confirm it is active by seeing if it has the green check mark in LOOT. Now you may test your changes in-game. When reloading in the Creation Kit to do further editing, make sure to select your plugin and mark it as active. Your changes should be accessible. I feel stupid right now, I knew the answer was an obvious one. Activating the ESP's in nexus did the trick. For future reference, is there anyway to activate them without a mod manager? IsharaMeradin
There should be a data files option in the Skyrim Launcher (the one that comes up when not using SKSE), but using that can screw up a carefully created load order. Thus in the long run it may be best to use your mod manager.
thumbincubation
If you prefer manual installs, you can still use Wrye Bash to manage order, without having it actually manage installation. If you install a lot of mods, you'll end up needing it to make bashed patches, for leveled lists, anyway.
