Human Skin Armor

Recently I just had another playthrough of Baldurs Gate II (great as always ;-)) .. and while I came across the Tanner's Quest, I thought how great it would be to have a reminiscence of the human flesh armor in Skyrim. Sadly I'm not skilled in this modding business at so the best thing to make was to give the idea to a forum, hoping somebody likes the Baldurs Gate (/silence of the lambs) homage as much as myself.

Here are some general notions I have had:

- you can get pieces of flesh/skin (=retextured leather piece) by killing humans (perhaps by using a special tanner's knife)

- the actual clothing (Armor, Gloves, Pants, Boots) could be crafted with a tanning rack

- it is a kind of clothing (perhaps it could be worn beneath normal armors) or light armor

- while wearing people does'nt talk to you anymore, perhaps there are also scared

- possible effect: like ring of namira feeding from corpses is possible, in case of being a vampire: protection from sunlight

- also there is an enchantment to make people believe that it's your normal skin and behaving normally (+ improving the stats, perhaps other abilities)

- two different versions: male and female version

i think it kind of fits for the dawnguard theme and also for the namira setting. and please don't consider me as crazy. ;-)

This sounds horrible D:>

...

But interesting.

Well, this could be lore friendly enough. I mean, we have cannibals and vampires. Why not add this armor to their leveled list? And I belive the Argonians are also not very happy that some people wear their pals as clothes.

It should be fairly easy to create this armor. I'm too unskilled to create an actual armor model but I could retexture something. To make people belive it's the actual skin the armor could be tagged the same way the default body is so the NPC's will belive you're naked despite of wearing someones skin. It should rather be clothing than armor but with 20% magic resistance like the original.

I could create this armor (sort of) if I have the time.

I have wanted to make armor from the hides of people in the game from the first time I saw we could use the tanning rack :P I considered doing something with that, but it would be pretty significantly different from this, which was why I didn't reply at first. For instance my version doesn't really have anyone noticing you're wearing human skin. There's plenty of leather and fur armor, no one has to know you're wearing a Khajiit instead of a sabrecat or a Bosmer instead of a wolf ;) There's no real reason you'd have to treat people corpses any different from deer, and if you come up with something that patchwork you're either showing off all your human skins or you're not a good leathersmith :P Mine would also have innate enchantment or powers that give weak buffs based on what race they're from (+5 for Sneak from Khajiit, +10 magic resistance from Breton, +10% magicka regen from Altmer... etc. )

So anyway, I got distracted, but I was going to say I will probably eventually be making something in this vein, but pretty different from your request.

I got the actual idea by similiar thoughts about the argonians. just wanted to have an argonian who could dress up like a human. And i like the clothing instead of armor aspect.

I had only proposals and perheps i like your realization even more. But i think i forgot to mention about the idea of a human face mask ... i think that's kind of scary, but in my opinion skyrim could have a few more nasty mods. everything is modded nice and smoothly with shiny armors, but skyrim is a tough place and so it needs more dirt and gore ;-)
