Constant Crash

So I uninstalled/ reloaded Skyrim last night due to unfixable crashes (loads wouldn't load, Helgen gates wouldn't open to continue intro. Skips weren't working). Today, worked fine for a while, now it crashes if I go near the blacksmith in Riverwood, and I'm unable to load save files. Tested with and with out mods, same result. Any suggestions?

Checked your hardware? Maybe blow out the dust in case it has something to do with dust build up and overheating? Run a hard drive test too.

Nope, wish it was that. No over heating, just replaced a faulty fan and hard drive. Everything but Skyrim is in perfect order. Edited September 21, 2012 by Hirraed

I am not a fan of STEAMypile, but here is a test to run. Test the game cache.

 

Verify integrity of game cache

1.Load Steam

2.From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.

3.Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache... button.

4.Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes.

5.Once the process is completed, the Check Window will automatically exit.

 

 

Provided your game is a legal copy, your game will update any corrupted/missing files. If you have no mods loaded and you are getting errors like you say, this should repair it.
