Omegacron
I have two animated banners side by side on a tower. The animation has them flapping in the wind, but since it's the same mesh they flap at the same time, in the same exact way... which is somewhat immersion-breaking in-game. What I'd like to do is delay one by a second or two so that they're not flapping identically at the same time. Is there a way to do this in the Creation Kit, or does the animation in the mesh have to be modified?
maxarturo
I'll assume that the banners are yours and not vanilla. " Edit Base " one of the banners and click - check the " Random Aim Start ", be sure that only one has it checked and the other not, if they are side by side - next to each other. Also the second one has to be a different object - Editor ID, so Duplicate your banner and only one will have " Random Aim Start ". That worked, thanks! I had set my mesh up like a vanilla banner, so it was under "Static" and not "MovableStatic" - once I set my banner mesh up as a Movable Static, I was able to set the random option. c0ax599
Good topic! I am using 8 banners Inside my playerhouse (4 visible at a time). I added a "Dwemer AC System" (vents) to make it more realistic that they would be moving inside of the house. So how can i get 4 banners to have different motion timings. Yes they all have their own FormID. All are Moveable Statics. Edited August 13, 2019 by c0ax599
maxarturo
Check to all of them the " Random Aim Start ", but the actual randomness will differ each time you enter the cell.Having 4 same mesh + animation banners side by side is like gambling with the chances of randomness. All are Moveable Statics.Sounds like you've got it covered already, but note that if you don't want the animation effect on your custom banner, you can open the .NIF in Nifskope and remove the animation node. My animated banners were all outdoors, so I created a separate one for indoors that didn't have the swaying animation.
c0ax599
Thank you sir for the tip. I've gotten as far as swapping textures in Nifskope, but every little bit of knowledge helps get things done AND how things work. I had misspoke in my post also. I noticed 4 are "Moveable Statics", 4 are just statics. The moveable statics look realistic, the 4 reg statics are the ones that all have the same motion. I'll have to decide what to do about it. The 4 moveable statics are nice once i used your method of disabling "Random Animation Start" on two of them. They look more natural now. And, I kinda like Dwemer AC! https://i.imgur.com/HmTWR4C.png'> Edit: I changed three other banners to moveable statics.. Way better now..
