scottym23
So I don't have Skyrim for the xbox, only the pc. Because of this I've been watching YouTube videos on it in anticipation for it to be released for the computer. However I am extremely disappointed if what I think is actually true, that the actual layout of the house is almost entirely pre-determined and not able to be customized at all. I say this because in every single YouTube video I've watched on people's houses (and I've watched A LOT) there is always the main hall with the long table, fire place with the cooking pot in front of it, and stairs going to the second floor on both sides. I haven't even gotten the DLC for myself yet, and i'm literally getting bored of the same layout already just by watching a couple videos with the exact same interior. Is there really no way to customize it to where you can move around the fire place, stairs, and table? Or are we all doomed to build what Bethesda wants us to think is a "custom build it yourself house" when it's really a pre-built house in disguise? Thanks for taking the time to read this, and any insight into this matter is greatly appreciated!
SnowHeart
As is, yes, it seems very limited. Every house starts as a small house. To that, you can add the main hall and convert the original small house into an "entry way". Then, to the main house, you have three wings and three options for each wing. IIRC, the east wing has the armory and the library tower. If you want both, you're out of luck -- you can only add those to the east wing. Same scenario with the options for the other wings. And yes, furniture for the rooms is preselected and has predetermined locations. Now, with all of that in mind, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the excellent PC modding community is able to take Hearthfire and turn it into something really awesome once they get their hands on it. Time will tell.

I won't touch this mod until I can place specific items anywhere in the house. Now that's a true house DLC worth buying.
Loki180
I will end up getting it on the day its ready. Its sounds good. Having a kid. A home and its always cool to defend things. Going to be the big bad Viking defending his land =D Yeah I mean that would be the only reason i'd end up getting it possibly. But having kid(s) is kind of whatever when they only have a few options and dialogues. Defending your house is cool, but what are you really defending? Some generic house clone that might as well be surrounded by hundreds of the same house model? Not even worth fighting for in my honest opinion. And tbh I don't think a viking would be caught dead in a house that looks like the one in Hearthfire, since it's too neat and organized haha. Stemin
For $5 any complaints are splitting hairs, IMO. It's worth $5 to download it just for the mod resources and to keep up to date with the current code so your mods work. How can you complain about something that's only $5? SFBryan18
As far as it's worth, PC users should not take DLC's like this one so personal. Console games make a very large amount of revenue for the company to continue, so they have to release DLC's that will make the console users happy. Hearthfire is definitely not original to a PC user who uses mods, but for XBox and PS3, you can't get anything else like it because consoles don't allow mods. It's pretty much like this... There is a new DLC aimed towards making the game more fun for console users. It will eventually get released for PC simply because it can. You don't have to buy it, so if you don't like it then ignore it. Personally, I'll buy whatever DLC they release because it is new content. I don't care if it's already been done, I'm looking forward to the official DLC because I really like this game, so anything new is good.

SFBryan18
You can count on it. Modders pretty much do almost anything you can think of and more. Who knows what they will come up with once they get their hands on it. The nice thing about a dlc, is unlike a private mod which probably comes as is, the dlc will have several mods made for it.
