ghosu
Hi There is this one topic that drives me crazy when it comes to modding...for months, maybe i'm the only one but it is essential for my mods. I can model and texture my stuff, i can build quests and new cities, landscapes whatever - but no way to create a new skeleton for fitting animations or any other way to animate my stuff (and i'm not talking 'bout loop and idle animations, replacer...). So there is this great base for modding but quite nothing when it comes to new animations, but this thread is not 'bout animations since most people will reply "Ey, you can animate this and that and..." yeah, i'm aware of idle animations, replacer, loop animations, altered character skeletons - but pls show me ONE reasonable way to animate my musket with several moving parts or whatever, i'm talking 'bout a new skeleton OR another way to properly animate it. And i'm not the only one that would benefit from this knowledge, i'm talking 'bout really good mods and a great gameplay boost for players. I want to make better mods for us players and i invested a lot of time to get it working. But after 10threads+ with this topic and no replies (except Ghogiel, thx) i give it up but before i abandon my mod i would love a short and simple answer from Bethesda. I would even be happy with a "No" or "YES but you need these special tools that only we have access to and there are no alternate ways" or "Yes but we won't tell you 'cause we want to sell DLC" so i don't waste more time on it. I guess there is NO CHANCE to get a response, but at least i want to try it. So what do you think, is there any way to raise the chances to at least 0,00001% to get a response? And i'm not talking 'bout the answer of a random moderator from the Beth board...i guess a simple mail will be deleted in a second sooo any other options? Any "insider" boards around? I might siege their headquarters, austrian invasion - once again without success :D greetings Edited September 22, 2012 by ghosu
Loki180
This may help or not but I am going to put this out there anyway, What about their Twitter Account? I have got answers from there before. I guess if your all out of options then its worth a shot? Other than their email address I can't think of much else. But it could take them months to reply. Their Facebook page even? Try everything, atleast then you can take solace in the fact that all their contacts are covered ^_^ Hope you get some joy. Stemin
There's a way to do this, it's just that the few modders that know and understand this stuff either don't frequent here often or are keeping it to themselves. If you do a search you will find limited discussion about it. I believe the popular monster mod uses some custom skeletons and there was a mod that let you fly on a dragon that did something similar. Animations are done all the time for players, you can find them on youtube. I actually downloaded the same animation software Bethesda uses for free. Off the top of my head I can't recall the name of it, but when you go to their website, you register as using it for home use or something like that and you can download a working copy for free. I think it might be havok tools. Which makes sense since they use the Havok Physics engine. EDIT: Turns out I bookmarked it: http://www.havok.com/try-havok There's also something called bone tools that works in conjuction with 3d studio max. I'm sorry I can't offer more help. Like I said, I'm finding scraps of information when I search, but nobody is sharing enough to actually teach you to do much. OH.. IIRC there is a limited animation tutorial on the Nexus Wiki as well for player animations. Edited September 23, 2012 by Stemin
ghosu
Twitter and FB...jeah thx i might try that, though i'll have to use my brother's FB account since i'll never register there.Uh and Twitter, how much i hate it but i have to make an exception :D @ Stemin...i'm already using havok in 3DsMax and i'm aware of these character mods and whatever, though it doesn't seem to be the real deal - i need a totally new skeleton, i guess i started 'bout 10 threads with this topic but never got a reply so it seems not to be possible or no one wants to share his knowledge. I'll check out the monsters and dragon mod, thx. greetings
