At first in WOW series the "Guardian" led them into this world.

I say they aren't.

One could argue (and be wrong) that they are Goblin-ken beastfolk, as they have been categorized by many over the years.

This is the official lore:

 

Orcs are a race of Mer whose god was corrupted and changed by Boethia into Malacath, them changing physically along with him.

 

The suffix -mer in Orsimer is not very conclusive because there are also the Dwemer. I for one would argue that Dwarves are a different thing than Elves.

 

In the Lord of the Rings books there is a place that made it sound as if Orcs were breed from Elves that had been twisted by evil magic.

 

In most games, Orcs are usually a larger more dangerous species of goblin.

Exactly. Why doesnt anyone seem to get this?

In Skyrim it explicitly says they are a type of Elves. But never does say Orcs are. Just because Orcs have all the features of Elves, it doesnt mean they are one. Like Falmer for example, they kind of look like Vampire Lords from the Dawngaurd DLC, does that make all Falmer Vampire Lords?

The lore says they are a breed of mer.

 

They have elven ears.

 

The game says they are elves. The dwemer lockbox opens to dwemer blood but you can trick it by collecting the blood of other elven breeds which include ORSIMER and FALMER among them.

I posted it really quickly just to see if there was any debate. I had seen a few people try to argue that they weren't on a workshop mod comment section before, and then yesterday I read someone had wanted the Orc to be included in Elven Overhaul, and the mod author down rep'd them (-100) and said...

 

"Because it says 'elven', not 'orcish' or 'orcish and elven'. Yes, before someone swoops in, I know they're Mer, but that's just being obtuse."

 

First time I noticed that you can no longer down rep a mod author in their own thread.

 

Anyways, it seems everyone agrees that they are elven, so I wonder why they are never included.

 

I noticed the mod author's comment, and wondered if it was a question about game assets -- maybe easy to change all 'elf' assets; but 'orc' assets would mean having to do most of it all again. (will say I haven't looked into the depths of the data file structure). The mod author has created an orc face mod that doesn't deal with mesh changes.

 

Of course, I'm someone who questioned a 'half-elf' mod, since Breton are half-elf ; ) ((and I think they're my favourite race))

 

Many Tamriel inhabitants probably think that orcs are a beast race (as some of their literature says).
