6string
Hey, So after playing modded Skyrim for a period of time (let's say between a half hour to an hour) I get worse and worse microstutter issues. Everything is fine in the beginning, but as I play longer it gets worse. If I quit to the desktop and re-load, the issue goes away. I did have previous problems with microstutter and screen tearing, but that was fixed by leaving Vsync on in the ini and not trying to use adaptive Vsync through the control panel. After doing this I pretty much maintain a solid 40-50 FPS in outdoor areas and 60 in indoors. Anyone have any idea what this is linked to? I have a i5 2500K (not overclocked), a GTX 680 2gb system. I run approximately 25+ (or so) mods most of which are graphical enhancements, and all of which are in the top 100 (other than the version of ENB I run - Skyrealism). The only game changing mod I run is warzones. I did change my uGrids to 7 with the appropriate cell buffer. Thanks in advance.
Georgiegril
Have you checked your temps while you are playing? Also have you tried a fps limiter, it might be a bottleneck issue.
6string
I did check the temps and they were fine. I do not use a fps limiter as most of them are not compatible with enb. Are there any that are compatible with enb?
Georgiegril
I don't use ENB, I have an older card and it can't handle it. I don't know much about it therefore, but it seems odd to me that limiting your fps would affect ENB. I just use the fps limiter on EVGA precision (like Riva tuner or Afterburner). You can limit your fps through NVidia Inspector, too. It's a really easy change to make, and I am not certain but it seems really unlikely to me that attempting this would mess up your ENB in any permanent way. (You could always make a backup to be safe). Your card is much better than mine. The thing about the fps limiter is that it can help with bottlenecking if your card is faster than your CPU, which might be the case. The other thing, may be obvious and you may have already ruled this out, but if you have some kind of background process kicking in (like an autoupdate) this could also cause the stuttering you describe. I had a bit of a problem with something like this once when my external hard drive kept trying to say hello, even though I thought I had disabled it. Some updaters are on a delay, so they wouldn't show up as active processes when you first start but could cause problems later. Also, you are turning off your internet browser and other apps? 6string
I tried running EVGA precision and you get an immediate CTD after the Bethesda screen. I am fairly confident ENB is not compatible with these types of programs. I have read that they are not compatible with any OSD, but frankly, I am not even sure what an OSD is (but I know afterburner MSI is one, and fairly confident EVGA Precision is as well - just being honest, I am kinda a noob when it comes to this stuff). I run game booster, and try to turn off all processes that may conflict, but I haven't been too aggressive on it as I am afraid I will shut something important down. It is a bizarre issue though for sure.
Georgiegril
Sorry about the fps thing, like I said I don't know much about ENB, but thanks to you I know know more! Are you running the very latest drivers (306.23)? I notice they fix the v-sync related stutter issue for your driver series(or at least they claim to). You might try installing them and then seeing if you can turn Vsync on.Just make sure to do a complete clean manual install of the drivers. (Download the drivers to your desktop, remove the old driver files using uninstall program, turn off and restart your computer to clear the cache, then install the new files.) I have an older card, but I found the new drivers are improving my performance more than I would have expected.
