gros1919
Hello, I have a bit of a problem and maybe also a enormous lack of common knowledge about installing mods within skyrim SE (and skyrim too while we're at it)So I tried to install this mod : https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/58728/I made sure that skse64 is installed through Mod Organizer 2's SKSE launcher and i have the last version stated by the game (which ends with 16 i think). The methods I tried : So first I installed MO2 (=mod organizer 2), to install skse64, then I tried to install the mod above the same way I installed skse64 (in other words, by dragging the 7zip folder to the download page of the framework), obviously it didn't worked. Then I tried using vortex, so first of all, i went to the link above and pressed the corresponding button to install via vortex and then, as a tutorial on youtube suggested me, I downloaded the LOOT framework and pressed the button to sort the plugins and after that I pressed the button to update the masterlist. But it didn't work when I openned the game using steam or directly from MO2 (by launching SKSE and also Skyrim SE launcher) Then I tried using Nexus mod manager, i followed a tutorial on youtube but it didn't work either. Finally i also tried to install the mod by using this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIKo6K8QU9s which suggest to download the mod from github instead of Nexus but it didn't work either. After a while, i saw in the comment section someone said "be careful! this tutorial only applies when you are using less intrusive hud mod! if not then install it in the default folders!" and obviously i was dumbfounded when reading that since i didn't understand what it meant... All the methods used above are not necessarly in the correct order, i don't know if that matters but just saying. I exhausted pretty much every single tutorial there is on youtube to help me but it didn't work i really don't know what to do. I already have three mods installed that are showing up in the MOD section when i launch the game, two of them are activated and work fine. Two of them were installed via Vortex ( by the way at that time when i installed these two mods I didn't have MO2 installed and i didn't have NMM installed too) The last one was installed from the game itself, when you go to the MOD section you can search from there a mod and i downloaded it directly from there. So basically i used every method i knew of and they miserably failed, i am even doubting skse64 is properly installed since the mods above needs it, but i can also only see the SKSE64 version of skyrim SE only when I launch the game from MO2 by launching specifically SKSE and not when i open the game using skyrim SE or skyrim SE launcher from MO2 or when i open it from steam... Thank you in advance for your help, i hope that i will be able to solve this problem with your help and also since i have a tons of mods that really needs to be installed and i feel like a complete beginner if i can't even install properly the mod above. Deleted55991832User
At the risk of sounding completely foolish.. are you trying to install an "Oldrim" mod into SE ? if so you would have to unzip the 7z file and manually transfer the files to your data folder, then activate said mod in yout mod-manager.. sadly there are no guarantees that the mod will actually work in SE, incompatabilities and so forth.. Secondly, when you have SKSE installed, never, ever, press play on the Beth start menu.. click on the SKSE launcher, when the splash screen (options, play, exit) comes up, press EXIT, and then proceed to click on the SKSE launcher again.. that will make your game recognize SKSE and everything should be as dandy as the Gods and Todd allows... Thirdly.. run loot and Fnis (if you have it) everytime you install or delete a mod.. for your own sanitys sake I apologize profoundly if this came out condescending or otherwise nauseating but, the answers pertain to the questions i surmised in your post... gros1919
I don't know if it is an oldrim mod, but when you click on the link i gave you can see in the game option in nexus website is skyrim se, and there is a video showing how to install it via github as i said on skyrim se too so i think it should normally work but i'll try to install it manually like you said. But maybe it really is an oldrim mod ^^ I didn't know the game had to be launched like that at all ! Thanks for giving me this advice i have loot but i don't have fnis, should i install it or is loot enough already ? You don't have to apologize, i am glad that you replied to my post, i am a complete newbie when it comes to modding hahaThanks a lot for your answer, i am actually trying to install tons of mods to the game, it may take quite some time, so i think I'll try installing this mod later on but i will not forget to mention if the problem is solved or not. Deleted55991832User
Hello again.. when i click on your link it directs me to the "Oldrim" page.. mods like these are not known for working seamlessly with special edition, as for Fnis it is only necessary if you have mods that require it, armor, weapons, some animations (jiggly bits) and so on.. not a necessity but, nice to have..if you have any questions I will gladly help, to the best of my abilities.. just PM me, do have a wonderful what it is where you are... wfandrews
I would download both SKSE and SKse64 from this site "silverlock.org", without the quotation marks. They are easy enough to install, just extract the files to your desktop then copy and paste the files to your oldrim and SSE directory's respectively. You will not be able to run that mod in SSE as it is an oldrim mod which depends on SKSE. If you do not have any mods which require FINIS it is not necessary. Read the description page of any mod you download carefully and it will tell you if that mod requires FINIS. This should really be done with any mod as the authors description page will usually tell you if there is any specific load order required or any incompatible mods or anything else you should know about that specific mod. There are some oldrim mods which will work with SSE but a general rule of thumb is if they are scripted or depend on SKSE they will not work. thumbincubation
Whenever you see ...rim/mods/ in the link, it's an oldrim mod. SE mods links should include ...ition/mods/.
Gorsha
Of course it is an oldrim mod if you see the requirements at the file page: "Adds floating in-world healthbars to any Actors in combat. Requires SKSE 1.7.1 or greater." This is she skse from oldrim, and will never work in SE.
gros1919
Riolobo : oh you were right, it is an oldrim game in the link, sorry my mistake, thanks a lot anyways, i'll ask you then if i need an advice. It's so hard to understand how to install mod, i installed fnis in the end by following a tutorial so i think i am good, but it's so damn hard to install it ! I would never succeed alone lol without the tutorial i mean. thumbincubation and Gorsha : Yeah i googled oldrim so i figured it out after sending my message, it really is an oldrim mod, such a shame ^^ wfandrews : But i have to download skyrim then  i don't really want to, since i already installed the other one, but thanks you very much for your advice. I'll try it someday if i am determined haha, i'll follow your advice to carefully read the description of mods though it is really important after all.
