JediMasterChief2 Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 After discovering Origin scans your computer (false advertising on EA's part), I realized that I need to go through and delete any remaining data from when I uninstalled Origin, which I have already uninstalled because of C&C Generals 2's cancellation. I already got everything in the main directory, but, I'm not sure where the rest of the data, if any, is. I have Windows 7 Home Premium for my operating system, for anyone who knows where Origin installs file on that OS. Any help will be appreciated.
JimboUK Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 https://help.ea.com/article/manually-uninstalling-origin This is manual removal, it might have something there the uninstaller has left behind.
JediMasterChief2 Posted September 24, 2012 Author Posted September 24, 2012 Alright, thank you. EA is now the second company from which I won't be buying anymore games (unless its the older ones, before Origin), along side Ubisoft. I still think Ubisoft is the greater of the two evils, though.
JimboUK Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 The same two companies I avoid, that said I did grab Driver SF when they removed the crap from it.
Aegrus Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 (edited) Origin nukes my games- not kidding. I re-installed it just recently to give Battlefield 3 another go, and it gave me huge amounts of active x errors before corrupting tons of game files. I uninstalled it again, and the issues went away. Then my desktop's psu died. But Origin didn't do that. I don't think. Edited September 25, 2012 by Aegrus
JediMasterChief2 Posted September 25, 2012 Author Posted September 25, 2012 That maybe a severe bug with Origin and Battlefield 3. Someone brought up that exact same issue, also involving BF3, on a different topic. I had no games installed with my Origin and no damage was done to any of my files or any other issues like that. But, I'm glad I uninstalled it, because the risk would be costly.
Phalanx108 Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 The whole "ermagerd origin is eeevil" is really just a bad case of hyperbole. It really, really isn't as bad as the whole online community makes it out to be.
Rennn Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 (edited) No, it's really that bad. It gradually started corrupting every game on my pc. It got so intrusive it'd start itself up whenever I played even old Origin-free games like Arx Fatalis or Morrowind, and then it invaded Skyrim's CK. I got rid of it at that point, and there've been no problems since. Edited October 9, 2012 by Rennn
