Is this cheating??

I do something like that too. Whenever I start a new game I go to go closest cave (to the left of the main gate of the Imperial City, along the river bank). As you enter the cave you stand in a kind of a trench. I trigger the trap ahead. Then I just stay in the trench in sneaking mode and move back and forth. There's a bandit above the trench. He can hear you but can't see you at all because he can't get line of sight so you can't get detected no matter how low your sneak skill is.

I keeping moving back and forth until my sneak skill is about 30(just so that I can do sneak attack damage if the chance ever arrises in the game) then carry on with my game cos this is a skill that's useful to everyone at some stage no matter what your class is.

I mostly use the console to test mods or to fix problems they give me (and, well, I count doing ~kill on some 50 level unkillable by anything I have opponent who pops out of nowhere in an innocent-looking common vanilla dungeon while I'm merely 10 as "fixing a problem the mod gives me").

I know that TGM is toggle god mode, but I consciously think of it as - in much the same way as I think of FIA as Ferrari's Interference Arm - test game mode.

Quote from my nephew who got bored after 5 or 6 weeks: "no-one in their right mind would play default difficulty when you can slide it all the way to the left !!!!! You old people got no brains."

So, I agree with someone who had a title once, it's a single player game and each to their own. I have read more posts/comments besides bben's .... and I like the way you guys fail to agree with, essentially, no right or wrong finger pointing. What a great forum

I tend to cheat in games but mostly it happens the first time in a game when I get stuck on something (don't know what to do next in a quest, or sometimes literally stuck somewhere). Once I learn the cheats though it's hard to stop because I "feel the powah!" that the cheats give me. :woot:

Console games ported to PC without proper console cheats drive me insane... especially if it's a story I can't put down like anything in the Legacy of Kain series.

It's only cheating if it makes you feel guilty. Otherwise, you're just well prepared.

What a great quote

I disagree. Real cheaters don't feel guilty at all, so it can only be said about relatively fair-playing people, who still have some consciense.

excellent answer sarya!

Actually Sarya, I think its true in this case.

I am an avid Oblivion player. I have 50+mods now, and some i made my own. There is no such thing as "Cheating" in a 1 player game. just having fun is what that matters. I have noticed that the NPC's sometimes cheat...ie..

I was playing around on dive rock. And good o'l freakin Barrus (spelling?) came out of nowhere! "You're not easy to get ahold of, what have you learned?" OMG! "Follow me to the sewers, i know where to meet the agents." HOLY CRAP MAN! I *HAD* to follow his sorry butt all the way to talos plazza district, at WALKING SPEED! :wallbash:

If THAT isn't cheater's karma, then what is?
