Why doesn't accented letters work in Creation Kit?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone :)

I ren into a problem while creating a small translation for the weapons' names in Creation Kit studio. I need to use accented letters, like these: http://www.webshopabc.hu/wabc/image/cache/catalog/Kateg%C3%B3ri%C3%A1k/Hasznos/specialis-karakterek-500x500.png

When I type them in the program, they appear as expected, but in the game, a rectangle appears instead of these characters.

When I try to rename something, these characters work fine.

Is there a solution for this problem?

Thank you in advance

Hi there morpheuss,

CK doesn't support the text encoding for using those letters, even though the .esp/.esm/.esl and the game can use UTF-8. What you would want to use is this tool if you are doing simple translations :

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/921/?

This program uses dictionaries for default vanilla game words, and you can also build your user dictionaries, so that the translations can be performed automatically (very useful if you need to update the translation from v1.0 .esp to v2.0, for example). If you are doing mods in a language other than English, it is still necessary to make them in English first within Creation Kit, and then translate them later.

(I think you can also create language dependent string files and let the game decide which language to load, like Creation Club stuff, but I haven't learned how to do this. This method would use a main .esp file in English, and a folder containing all the translated string files.)

Good luck.
