You are carrying too much.... stuck in place!

When I become over-encumbered (carrying too much), instead of walking slowly, I am unable to walk at all. Just stuck in place.

I can jump, turn, but not walk at all. 3rd or 1st person.

The moment I drop stuff, I can walk again.

 

If anyone has experience, or knows of this glitch, and can recall which mod (or kind of mod) is most likely to cause this, I'd be grateful.

Meanwhile...off to track the culprit...

I've encountered that situation a few times (very rarely), although mostly I'm just forced to walk. No clue what causes it, but in my limited experience, the "adult" stuff seems to cause the most problems with player paralysis, whether partial or full paralysis, and whether by accident or design.

 

FWIW, and although I realize it's not really an answer to the question, you can force a workaround using

 

the Expedition necklace mod (9K additional weight) and/or other mods as well as enchanted items

or via console: player.setav carryweight N (or player.modav carryweight N) where N is the applied max carry weight.

 

I'll be candid, my player's carryweights are astronomically superhuman. I think my male player is dragging along around 24Klbs right now, and the female one that predates his creation, even more - around 17 tons last I played...or ~14kg for you unit challenged folk. Yeah not immersive, but neither is shooting flames out of my hands, or every woman having a 'perfect' body... (or for that matter dragons, draughur, etc etc). So if you live by the stock limits, I can understand...just sayin', there are ways around it.

 

And ftr, I wear the expedition necklace AND I added 20K to my limit using modav to the male, 30K via modav on the female.

To BlueGunk, this isn't a bug per se, when you exceed your in game carry weight you become incumbered and if you continue to add things when this happens the game just parks your character until you unburden yourself only three ways i know of to fix this, one use the in game console to up your carry weight, two install a mod that allows you "carry more than your physical game weight allows or three just keep yourself aware that your getting close to your limit and don't try to acquire more things than you can carry!! (almost forgot you can raise your stamina at level up - for some reason bethesda made Stamina equate to carry weight .)

 

 

i would suggest the following mod - skyrim adventures tent - the advantage of this mod is that 1.) a player home, 2.)it's a spell you cast so you don't have to worry about it taking up space (ergo no weight involved) 3.you can roleplay it as a minor spell you learned somewhere. 4. because this is a player home it's a place you can dump all your things in your inventory.

 

 

two small cavets 1. be careful where you deploy the tent (internal spaces like dungeons could be a bit of a challenge), two this mod has dependancies so read the description carefully.

 

 

P.S. standard carry weight in Skyrim is 300 unless you're using a custom race, the command to up or lower your carryweight is: Player.setav carryweight XXX (where X is the amount you wish to carry. (for realism sake i wouldn't up it beyond 400 as most humans and Elves can't carry a tonne or more in weight. (though i've done it to my poor wood elf)

I managed to break the 'stasis' after a few thrashings around with drawing weapons and jumping about. I'll see what I can do with your ideas.
