Super simple, super helpful feature request

The single most frustrating thing about looking at mods here is not knowing which platform they are supported on.

This request is for a super simple feature that will show the platform availability for each mod: PC, Xbox, PS4, etc.

This could be expanded by allowing users to filter search results by platform, saving tons of time.

PC players are spoiled, but console players are left to manually search mods they like on the console and hope it pops up.

Hi JollyRott3n,

Generally speaking, we only host PC mods. Although there have been a few exceptions over the last year.

You will normally find that we create a separate game for the console specific version of the game, here are some examples:

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimplaystation4

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4playstation4

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimnintendoswitch

https://www.nexusmods.com/supersmashbroswiiu

You can assume all mods in those game sites work with console.

Thanks but that skyrim page only shows ten mods. There are many more that have been released just this summer, and many are hosted here on Nexus.

Wether PC players like it or not, Nexus has become the go-to site to look up details on different mods. The site needs to adapt to be more inclusive to all players.

you dont need seperate site for seperate platforms, you only need to add a simple, (AGAIN, SIMPLE), tag at the top of each page to list its supported platforms.

I appreciate your reply, but it falls short.

Skyrim PS4 currently has a total of 14 mods on Nexus Mods, the Switch version has 83 (links below). Anything else is found on Bethesda.net or another site.

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimplaystation4/mods/

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimnintendoswitch/mods/

When you say "tag at the top of each page" which page do you mean? The game page? The mod page?

The problem we have is that current mods for consoles for the same game do not necessarily follow the same file formats or modding patterns. Take Skyrim on the Switch as an example. As I understand it, it's a halfway house between 2011 Skyrim and Skyrim SE. So it requires plugins, meshes, textures and BSAs to be converted to an accepted format. Meaning if these mods were lumped in with other Skyrim mods users downloading them on the wrong platform would have issues. It's also simply a different release of the game, which is why we separate them, the same as Skyirm/Skyrim SE.

There is also the problem that modding your console games generally isn't allowed by the OEM, which is understandable because you're letting unapproved foreign code into your console OS. Hopefully things will become more open as time goes on. We've already seen modding become more popular on console thanks to services like Bethesda.net and Paradox Mods.

We're definitely not against the idea of being inclusive of console modding (as you can see from my previous examples). So you don't have to worry about that. :)

That makes sense. What i mean by ‘tag’ is there can be noted under requirements, just to say this mod is for PC, Switch, Whatever.

I dont try to download for console here, obviously, but it is a great point of reference especially since most youtube videos link to nexus first.

I should be looking on Bethesda though, I really had no idea that only a handful of PS4 mods are even profiled here. With the growth in modding just this summer alone, I expected most of them would be showing up here as well.
