Spinner385
I really like Project Reality, great weather/lighting mod. Sharpshooters is a good ENB that is not very demanding. If you don't know what an ENB is, basically it makes your game look better. Lush Grass, Lush Trees, Skyrim Flora Overhaul, and Skyrim HD are all good mods to make the environment look better but may hit your performance. Most people prefer Skyrim HD over the texture pack on steam, but its an opinion thing. If you ever get into gameplay type mods. Skyrim GEMS is a great place to find them. fraquar
Between STEP project and GEMS, they basically give you the foundation you are looking for. As for Dawngard, haven't played it (not into the whole vampire thing) - someone else could better answer that.
AnkhAscendant
It doesn't matter if you download Dawnguard before finishing (or even starting) the game. The content starts itself when you reach level 10 if you have it installed.
bben46
Check the top files list (5 lists or 4 if you are underage) - These are the most popular and usually most stable mods. Look at the top line of tabs. HOVER your mouse over that DO NOT CLICK YET. A drop down will appear. Click on Top Mods and you will see the lists.
Georgiegril
Whatever you use, to avoid hours or days of misery trying to figure out which of your 20 or 100 new mods is causing you CTDs, install one at a time, run BOSS after each and play for a while to make sure it's all peachy before moving to your next install.
