JayW97
Hey guys, I just got Skyrim and I am attempting to mod the game using you Mod manager.I originally didn't have the game installed with steam but I was pointed to this guide > http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/How_to_install_Skyrim_mods I then moved Steam to C:\Games\Steam And the game from Program files to. C:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim Liked the guide said. So it now should be installed with Steam. I have downloaded 6 mods.Unofficial Skyrim PatchNew Playable races by BudcatEtherial elven overhaul.Stat ResetKillable and Lootable ChildrenMasterMagicka. I have downloaded them to the Mod manager and have installed them in the mod tab. I then arranged them in the order above in the plugin tab and ticked them all. I then go and launch the game and start a new save. I get to the part where I am asked who I am and none of the new races appear :(This is the races mod > http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13984 And out of all the mods I wish that mod to work the most as I like following the games lore. Anybody able to help to get the mods to work? Cheers, Jay

Anybody able to help to get the mods to work? Cheers, Jay Are you familliar with your Skyrim.ini file? Should be in your documents settings <your name> games skyrim folder. Make sure your binvalidateolderfiles line is set to 1 not 0 If that doesn't work; reinstall Nexus mod manager; have it rescan for your game. Though it seems to have the correct location from what you've said. ( when in doubt; re-install the program! LoL ) Also; race mods have an incredible habit of breaking games if not installed with the utmost care. Nexus mod manager is GOOD; but not great yet; ( for instance; when it installs cloaks of skyrim; it installs & enable ALL three ESP's; though the readme file tells you (obviously) to use only one. NOT saying NMM or your race mods are at fault; but I'd uncheck ALL but one of them; be sure to toggle archive invalidation; make sure you have SKSE installed if necessary; & change the NMM "start game" tab to hook the script extender. ( "start SKSE" not "Play Skyrim" ) Hope ANY of this helps; the mods make the GAME no doubt! Jack Burton ( ME! )
bben46
Moving steam should have automatically moved all of your steam games with it. IF you use the instruction from steam. Just using the windows to move anything that has registry entries will usually fail as MS forgot to implement a way to change registry entries when you move something that is linked to them (Thanks Microsoft ) Here is a link to the steam instructions for moving steam without having to reinstall anything - This may be too late to fix yours though.https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?p_faqid=231 BTW, Even the dvd version requires you to install Skyrim through steam. So this will not work unless Skyrim was installed through steam to begin with.
JayW97
Antioche - I found my Skyrim.ini file but it had no binvalidateoldfiles. I then installed SKSE but when I do the final step and open the skse_loader.exe it tells me to update to the newest version of skyrim?

Georgiegril
Unless you have a legal copy of Skyrim, downloaded or activated though your Steam account, your game will not work.
