MattWith2Ts
Hello fellow Modders, I'm currently working on creating my own mod for Fallout NV but I've run into a problem. I'm trying to bring my armor from 3ds max through nifScope to the geck and to the game. I've followed this tutorial http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/3ds_Max_armor_to_Fallout_New_Vegas but I noticed there is a lack of information regarding the nifscope steps and the geck setup steps that I really need an explanation for. My Armor is already created and Textured. I've skinned it to the Vanilla Skeleton and I've exported it with these When I';m in NifScope my model is just plane white even after I make sure the texture paths are correct and checked on. so when I bring up the geck and load my mesh it shows up without a texture... so i place the armor in the game and equip it but my characters entire body except for his head disappears so I'm a bit stuck at the moment. Could someone please help me out with my issue so I can save some valuable time in this process because I really want to move on with my mod and get it up on the Fallout Nexus asap. I plan on working with a mod team soon to create larger mods but for now I need help with this armor issue. Can someone maybe link me to a detailed easy step by step video tutorial on the steps I mentioned please? I would greatly appreciate it. Remember I'm not using blender, I've exporting from 3ds max 2011 using niftools. Thanks again.
DizzasterJuice
First off on your export settings --Under "Mesh" check Flatten Hierarchy, Update Tangent Space, Collapse and Zero Transforms.Under "Skin Modifier" leave the top 2 checked and also check "Remove Extra Bones". UN-CHECK "Generate Partition Strips". If you want NiTriStrips instead of NiTriShapes then check both strips but I think you want shapes for this model so uncheck strips.Under "Misc." check "Sort Nodes" only. (you only need accum nodes if it has animations, etc.)If the game can't find a texture it usually shows up pink so if you can't see it all it may be something else. Did you re-make the BSDismemberment? You can't copy and paste these, you have to re-make it every time you change something. The Skin modifier can be copied before changes then pasted back after the changes and un-check "Always Deforms" under advanced.
