Kiki981
Yesterday my Windows got updated. And tody when I started Skyrim I noticed strange sound problem. The sond is very loud, when someone is talking it's like I'm in a huge hall (echoes). When someone is talking just a meter os even less behind me, I can barely hear it (it's almost like NPC is not even talking). In short some sounds are too loud, some are too quiet. And I didn't have this problems before (just after yesterdays Windows update)k. Anyone else have this problem?

It is not so much the distance that appears to be a factor, but whether my character is facing in the direction of the NPC. I tried googling the issue without much success. Most of the complaints are about NPCs being silent when the character is facing them. Sort of the opposite of what I have experienced. I did find a post from a few years ago about this issue. It suggested a workaround that I have tried and it sort of "works". Open Control Panel/Sound. Select the Speakers that are checked in green, choose properties, then "enhancement" and select "loudness equalization".
anjenthedog
It's possible you need to update your sound card drivers. Both video and sound drivers can sometimes get kerfuffled by windows updates. I'd at least give it a look. In addition, many newer sound cards have reverb settings that can get screwed up on windows update. So if you have a nice card that has an accompanying console utility, (for instance, my Creative labs card has one) give that a check first. kryten397
Uninstall KB4515384 update. Lots of complaints about sound issues in games.Microsoft is working on a fix. You can reduce but not fix- by turning off multi-channel or surround sound . Edited September 15, 2019 by kryten397
