Hardrive clicked, froze my PC and pooped itself. What is a good set of rails for a 3.5 HDD? I have an Area 51 ALX case

Recommended Posts

So my HDD, that I bought this year, finally kicked the bucket, it didnt have anything important just games, but I did a very bad job installing it since I didn't have a set of rails (or case, whichever you prefer) and I left it hanging on one corner. Unsurpisingly, it started clicking today and froze my PC which forced me to manually restart it. I took it out and restarted the PC, it seems fine now, the hard drive that has Windows is still intact. Still, I'm thinking of buying another one but I want to know which set of rails would be best for my case, the hard drive that died didnt fit and left quite a bit of space so I had it tilted for that reason. The one that still works is a Maxtor with a width of 4 inches. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me.

Honestly, you would have been better off using gorilla tape to secure the hard drive in place. You never want to mount a hard drive in the way you did.

I think you can use these for your ALX case. https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16811994070?Item=N82E16811994070&Tpk=N82E16811994070

Hope that helps.

Thanks, I managed to get the HDD working. I backed up the important stuff only on my main drive, around 100GB. I'll back up the rest on another drive I have. Still, thanks again but do you know if that tray is available outside the US?
