Saugus Ironworks (lore)

Saugus Ironworks is not only a Location, Preston Garvey likes to throw at low level Minutemen and drive them sometimes with it insane (at least me^^), it is also the home to a raidergang called the "Forged".

 

And I have since day 1 of Fallout 4 one question in my head about this place that nobody seems to had in the past...

 

Has the leader of the raidergang in Saugus Ironworks, "Slag" come from the Pitt to the Commonwealth?

 

A few indicators are there:

 

-We know he is not from the Commonwealth.

-We know he must come from a place that is more rough as the Commonwealth since he thinks that all Raiders in the Commonwealth are weak.

-He moves around in a real power armor and not just some patched up crap like all the other Raiders. Remembers that you on someone?

-The Saugus Ironworks are again a location with Raiders that forge iron. Remembers that you on a other location?

 

And if he is one of the Raiders of Usher, has he leave Usher, to build his own little "kingdom"?

 

What did you guys think and is there maybe some lore to it in the game what I have not discovered yet?

Don't clear this location until you are high level enough because it is possible to save two settlers instead of one (at the confrontation scene).

 

You need to vats almost immediately, score a critical hit on his head and kill him straight, sometimes driving you mad as he drop his legendary weapon into the furnace.

 

He is not really tough, as many raiders also wear power armor.

 

Raiders in the commonwealth are mostly simple minded, going to a few locations to bully settlers (extorting caps and crops), they never have the brains to build something of a "military government".

I usually take first the supermutant out, on a bridge near Hangman's Alley. He wears a rocket launcher + 4-7 rockets if you kill him before he can shoot with his rocket launcher. He dies already through a single grenate, if you hit him with it good enough.

 

Then with the rocket launcher in my hands, I made the more difficult minutemen quests for low level characters (aka. Saugus, Dunwich, or every quest that includes glowing ghuls).

 

You are right that many raiders in the Commonwealth wear power armor, but not a power armor like Slag wears. He wears a original power armor, almost like the power armors, the player usually wears (I believe he wears a T60 if I am not wrong - would be another indicator that he comes from the Pitt, with Usher in mind since the Brotherhood prefers the T60). The other raiders wear usually power armors that look like, as they would have been patch together from all sort of materials and they don't look like a power armor anymore, from the us army.
