Red Diamonds upon Fast Travelling

Here's the problem. I stopped playing New Vegas for a while, but then decided to come back to it with some mods to play with, but I soon noticed that about half the time a lot of NPCs had turned into big red diamonds whenever I fast travelled into a new area, and they didn't revert to their normal appearance until I saved at that location and reloaded the game.

 

I know that the diamonds mean that some texture or mesh file is missing (or hasn't been loaded) on those NPCs, but I can't figure out what is suddenly causing it. I do know that it probably isn't any of the new mods I've downloaded recently otherwise I would've noticed it, and at this point I'm just thinking that I've simply got too many mods active at once and the game can't handle them all meaning I'll have to delete a large number of them and see if that fixes it.

 

(yes, when dropping textures and meshes into the data file I've never overwritten anything which might have caused a missing texture or mesh)

 

 

On the chance that there's another way around this, here's the load list from FMM if anyone can take a glance and let me know if there's any bad apples in there or if reordering would help.

oh yeah, and now the game keeps crashing repeatedly (initiating dialouge, opening storage etc, and i've never experienced a crash doing either of these ever), and the player character even turned into a red diamond. :sweat:

Sort your load-order in BOSS.

And yes - its too many mods. Uninstall or merge some of them. And use FOMM or NMM for installing modifications.

As said too many mods, get the number down to the 120-125 mark, the error you describe is exactly what happened to me when I had too many loaded.

Well, i cut down the number of active mods and then ran a sort load order. I'm happy to say it fixed the red diamonds issue, and there's a lot less crashing now, but it had a pretty strange side effect that I haven't been able to fix by re-ordering the load order...

I have Body By Race installed, along with Breeze Bodies... but for what ever reason the load order sorting has made the default body template for girls change to an earlier (and i thought invalidated) nude body texture and mesh, and the male body is a horrible t-shirt and shorts combination with warped textures on the arms and legs.

 

Now, Body by Race and Breezes are still recognised by the game, because when armor is added which uses either of the body mods, the textures and proportions show up perfectly. So it's just the default body which seems to have something overriding it and preventing the body mods from showing up in-game.

Oh, the red diamond issue is completely fixed when i scaled the active mods down, and there's no crashing anymore.

 

So it's resolved,

 

But it just created a weird issue with the bodies instead. I don't think that's being caused by the same problem, I think that when i did the automatic sort in FOMM that it messed something new up.

The diamonds have gone but you'll still have weird things happen, there's a bug in the game that causes weirdness with too many esps/esms loaded, I can't even do 140 before things fall apart.

Use FNV Plugin Utility (Google maybe can find the guides)

And look for NVEC. Prolably, it can solve a bunch of your problems
