Hearthfire is out for PC!

I found an issue with "Skybirds" mod. Worked great before "Hearthfire" and then after none of my other scripted mods would work properly until I found out that it was Skybirds. Now everything runs smoothly and no crashes!

We should make a list of known conflicts like "oakwood" so that it would be easier to test out each area. So basically any area that adds new navmesh in the DLC area crashes the game?

As far as I know its just "Oakwood". "Skybirds" did give me a little conflict problem (read above comment). That is all i'm aware of as of now.

Bethesda: These house mods for the PC version of Skyrim are awesome! We should make our own Build Your Own House DLC so that the XBox and PS3 (someday) players can enjoy them too!

PC Players: WAAAH BETHESDA HATES US AND ARE TAKING ALL OUR TOYS AWAY TO SHARE WITH THE CONSOLE GAMING PEASANTS

Ah, the anguished cries of the supposed PC Gaming Master Race never fail to delight.

I've got about a hundred mods installed and I haven't crashed yet with Hearthfire. Going to go and try to find a crash now, actually.

You really don't seem to get the issue here. No one's complaining that Beth is taking anything away from PC players. However, many of us don't like that they're spending time and money re-inventing the wheel to give console players a DLC that is of little to no benefit to those of us who play the game on PC. There are so many ways that they could make content that would benefit both groups, but instead, they've decided to pander to one demographic over the other.

Ah, the anguished cries of the supposed PC Gaming Master Race never fail to delight.

I use to be in a Skyrim group on Facebook and had to leave because X-Box players were too busy bitchin about how PC players change their game and ARE NOT playing the game the way Bethesda intended. Not 100% lore friendly. Who gives a crap?!?! I don't think PC is better than X-Box or even PS3. Play however the hell you want. What does it matter that someone thinks what platform is better? Its just plain ignorant to think that one is even better than the other. As for PC owners feeling superior? Some console players claimed that I was acting that way because I posted links to mods and talked about modding the game, when all I was doing was telling the PC players what is available to them. Everything gets blown out of proportion and misconstrued. I think its great that Bethesda did Hearthfire...it gives console players a taste of what modders do on PC. In fact I use to be a PS3 player of Skyrim before I switched to PC. Bought a brand new rig and everything just so I can play this game specifically. So i've seen the other side...and honestly...it wasn't pretty. I have enjoyed the game 1000% more on PC than I ever did on console. Some people just are too loyal to their platform I guess.

The phrase "console gaming peasants" made me laugh.

Another thing that makes me laugh is people getting all worked up and fighting over a $5 piece of downloadable content that no one is even forced to buy. LOL.

Hearthfire is of great benefit to PC players (and Kazakhstan). Hell, I'm already looking forward to getting to make a new house for myself, find a nice wife to settle down with, and adopt some kids. I do wish there was a pregnancy mod like the Romance mod back in the Morrowind days so I could have some kids of my own, but adoption will suffice for now. And finally I have a reason to actually visit general stores that doesn't involve questing!

A few minor bugs that will be patched in a few weeks are nothing. And I never liked the Build Your Own House mod's furniture options anyway. Hearthfire looks far more customizable and I'm hoping it'll inspire a slew of similar mods using the new resources.

Who's getting worked up? Not being a fan of something is very different from throwing a fit. Most people who don't like the idea of HF have made their points very calmly and rationally. I wish I could say the same for some of the folks I've tried to debate the point with. But I digress.

You're entitled to your opinion. I disagree with it.

And... Kazakhstan? Where the heck did that come from?

I am in accord with most of what JanusForbeare says, as usual. I don't think of HF exactly as a middle finger, but I am not sure Beth would be at all concerned about the problems HF causes the modding community.

Yeah, the phrase "middle finger" was rhetoric more than an actual description of their motives. I'm certainly not saying that anyone at Beth is actively trying to hurt the modding community, but I think that HF proves once again that they put so much emphasis on console gamers that our opinions have become an afterthought.

But just as it is in my opinion ... so, true words. Each dedicated modder tries his best to make his mod as compatible as possible. The same can be expected especially from an official dlc (mod). I'm not saying that they need to test every little thing, but they should (imo they have to) look at the popular. And hell, the unofficial patch is popular. Likewise, extensions for breezehome. If anyone such a mod released, what happens? No one will want to use ... to say it nicely.

I agree BlueFrog (um BlauFrosch). I have largely given up on Skyrim, myself, because it doesn't offer the depth I am looking for. But for Bethesda to largely ignore all the popular mods in their creation of an inferior mod - and therefore everyone else has to "recreate" their superior mods.....well....that is the definition of arrogance in my book.
