Latest SKSE Crash to Desktop

Okay, I'm running the Skyrim Script Extender version 1.5.11 which is the latest one listed on their website.

 

 

First off, I can't start a new game with the script extender running. The game stays on the title menu.

Second, when I load a game, it ignores any mods installed and claims that some mods aren't loading and may be missing. I hit 'yes' to load the save anyway and the game crashes.

Third, I then disabled ALL of my mods and tried again, but the game STILL crashes and I STILL cannot start new games with the script extender active.

 

 

I'm running Dawnguard if that makes any difference.

 

EDIT: After three posts all saying something about mods are the problem, I have to make it as obvious as possible with nice bold text that I'm NOT USING MODS to ensure it's not a mod conflict or bad load order.

Assuming a legal game run through your stam account (otherwise that is your problem)

 

Have you installed NMM, and are you using the "launch skse" tab on the pulldown at the top left of the NMM interface?

Have you downloaded and run BOSS, and addressed the messaged that it gives you in the log?

I have no idea what NMM, BOSS, or the pulldown is, so I must be missing stuff.

 

Yes I'm running a legitimate copy of Skyrim. I just got Dawnguard in fact. The way I've attempted to launch the game so far is by running the SKSE_launcher.exe in the Skyrim folder where I had to install it. The game launches but is not playable.

This should help Load Order and You

 

NMM= Nexus Mod Manager and a few others, I use Wrye Bash mysef, allow you to control which mods are active and in which order they load, with multiple mods, you need something like this to reduce conflicting mods causing CTD and/or other undesirables. BOSS is an addition to the managers with a preset load order to help you correct your load order.

Ok, so you have mods through the Nexus? Or just the workshop. What are you using skse for? Are you sure you need it? It isn't exactly a mod manager, it kind of sounds to me like that is what you want it to do?

 

NMM= Nexus mod manager. The program that will allow you to download and organize mods you download from the Nexus. Read about it here. or watch the videos.

BOSS= Better Oblivion Sorting Software. It started with Oblivion, but is now used here. Works to sort all mods regardless of if they are workshop or Nexus downloads. Read about it here.

 

 

BOSS and NMM work very well together.

You can use NMM with skse via the launch skse button on the NMM. Here is a

that can walk you through using them together (it has the updated install instructions for skse, with info about the pex files, and also using with NMM)

firstly after you instal dawnguard a good thing to do is check if all mods are active in my case i used nmm so i just had to instal dawnguard and put dawnguard after update.esm(esbern voice fix) and have any other mod after it so it might be your loading order because you should be using data to check/uncheck mods since i supose you dont have NMM but if i were you id download NMM and try with to uninstall/reinstall all mods(only mods not DLC like dawnguard)

The current version of Skyrim is 1.7.7.0.6. so I guess it is not compatible.

Theeeeeere's our problem, then. Funny how easy it is to overlook such a small issue.

That is not it. I have the posted version of skse running with the 1.7.7.0.6, as do most people, I suspect. That version was out with the beta of 1.7, and apparently did not need to be changed to adapt to the small changes in the .0.6 version.
