House has to have some VR where his ladies entertain him and guests (since he's in a sealed pod and they are robots, VR is the only possibility), so I don't think it's a huge leap to assume that a captain of industry and one of the richest people on teh planet has a Mayberry-esqe pre-war idyllic neighborhood to unwind and be entertained. i have no idea what tranquility lane is.... but the idea of a virtual reality town (or even building) .... brings an idea to mind. perhaps using VR idea as a base, there can be something programmed into marylin (or another computer regarding her) where the player can "go" to test weapons, armor, etc... maybe a virtual firing range, or an arena that you can program beasts into (from gecko's to deathclaws)... a place you can practice to learn the best moves (unarmed/melee) or the drawbacks (gun kick, accuracy, recoil, time for shooting) so that you can better know how to tackle certain situations... (after spending some time in the VR, i learn not to hold the trigger on my lmg, but rather short bursts... and keep it sighted in.) something of the like.... don't need to have any in-game improvements (like no perks or bonuses) but rather a real-life learning experience... to test how things work... without fear of wasting ammo, or dying... it's all just VR, right? i would never waste ammo... Don't get me wrong they'r good ideas, but better suited to a different VR.i suppose i didn't type it properly.... when i said: "there can be something programmed into marylin (or another computer regarding her)" ....... that the player can write the code for it.... with enough science skill and maybe a quest or something. and i didn't know what tranquility lane is because i didn't play fallout 3 for more than a few minutes..... i was too upset at the differences to classic fallouts... then a couple years later i gave new vegas a shot and decided i liked the differences. We're also working on dialog for Marilyn and the king, since it was rumored they had an affair. As a distraction, part of a "peace" gesture from House/the player (sucking up to him, basically; also she did a lot of GI tours IIRC, so that would fit, too) and/or added security in case things go FUBAR? All of the above? She's "rumored" to have had a lot of affairs; take it all with a grain of salt, even if some are somewhat more than gossip level. Like JFK IIRC, that was one of the more "mainstream" affairs.Even if they didn't (prominent women- especially intelligent, competent, or "defiant" women usually got rumors like this b/c of sexist character assassination etc. and Marilyn was certainly the first two) the two are such cultural titans that they're probably a 50's fan's dream couple. I wanted tranquility lane because it relates to Marilyn's personality. She once said she had too many fantasies to be a housewife. So being stuck in tranquility lane and forgotten by house is a sort of really crappy purgatory for her. Plus I love the idea of a callback to the original. devinpatterson Posted November 28, 2012 Author Share Posted November 28, 2012 Maybe in a later revision (when I have more time) it could be all three sims, and escaping from them would be Marilyn's companion quest. Rescueing her from tranquility lane triggers the Chinese army invasion and you have to flee to the beach sim. Something similar will happen at that sim (the beach) and you have to flee to the ski resort. From the ski resort you can access the fail safe and return to reality, where Marilyn's AI goes back online. Ski resort should be easy, just use some Jacobstown assets. Yes she is an android. "The ARES Project" mod will be released soon. Unfortunately, as Isbelle knows, I've been waiting on a voice actor to finish for months now...I should've just gone with Isbelle to begin with (kicking myself...lol).
