Rizla2112
Hi all.A quick question which I think I may know the answer to. Having bought and installed Hearthfire, I purchased the child's bedroom for Breezehome with the intent of adopting. Having chosen a child from the orphanage, I returned to Whiterun to see that my new daughter was safely installed and under the watchful eye of Lydia. When I tried to enter Breezehome, however, I got an immediate CTD. I reloaded and tried again with the same result. The only mod I have installed which could potentially conflict with the child's room is the Dovakhiin's Hideout, the entrance to which is very close to where the alchemy lab room was. Do people think this is the likely culprit? I really only use the hideout for a crafting/storage base and could easily do without it but I have a lot of stuff there which I'd have to relocate before disabling the mod plus it is the only way I can now enter Proudspire Manor, the outer doors of which having long since ceased to function (different issue but if anyone knows of a solution to that I'd be grateful!) Any thoughts?. Thanks.
AnkhAscendant
Do you have the Unofficial Skryim or Dawnguard Patch(es)? I believe that one of them fixes the Dawnguard "bug" of removing the Breezehome alchemy lab, which wasn't actually a bug, it was so that your child could have a bedroom. If you have them, try disabling and see if you crash again. (If not, test disabling your Hideout one and see if it fixes it.)
Rizla2112
No, I don't have any unofficial patches and I've been through Breezehome plenty of times since installing Dawnguard; the alchemy lab has always been there. I'm going to load a save from before buying the new bedroom and see if it's definitely that that causes the CTD. I think, if it does, that the hideout will have to go. Thanks for the idea though. Draconity
Unmodded, I had this issue with Hearthfire. Installing unofficial patches for Skyrim, Dawnguard, and the new Hearthfire one did not fix it.
chaospearl
Dawnguard removes the alchemy lab and replaces it with a child's bedroom? Screw that. The brat can sleep in a cupboard under the stairs.
ProjectVRD
I unloaded Hearthfire from the NMM and suddenly Breezehome worked again. I had the unofficial fixes installed.

I'm Italian. The CTD when you want to get into Breezeome is only due to some mod that modifies the home (excluding Downguard) or that change the texture. A mod that creates the CTD of Breezehome is "More Dynamic Shadows"

A mod that creates the CTD of Breezehome is "More Dynamic Shadows" Would that mod also be responsible for all the other CTD's around Skyrim? With Hearthfire installed there were many places in the outside world that CTD'd everytime I went near them, for instance, the DLC caused problems along the route between Whiterun and Riverwood and also at the North entrance to Falkraeth. The only way to stop the game crashing was to remove the DLC, I didn't specifically try removing the shadows mod but I would have thought that would cause problems everywhere, not just in one building... because the shadow mod applies to the whole of Skyrim, not just Breezehome. cursedcain
Had similiar problem after downloading hearthfire. CTD when trying to enter breezehome everytime. I had a few mods that changed breezehome, disabled them with no luck. I did a complete uninstall and reinistall, no help. Tried unofficial patch didn't make it worse, but was the same. I think this might be some how connected to ufo but it isn't worth having a house and kid mod for three player homes, with all the problems with this mod. Relistically I don't see how ufo is the problem, because all the other homes worked.
