SephDragoon
Why does it seem to me that Hearthfire is really just the Build your own House mod, and Adopt Children mod put together with more bells and whistles? I haven't got it, nor do I want to. I already have both of these mods. Seems quite a bit like they yoinked stuff from the Nexus though to me. Ironman5000
They have every right to and it looks like they did...just more bugged  Edited October 6, 2012 by Ironman5000
SephDragoon
They have every right to and it looks like they did...just more bugged  Oh no doubt, that's how it goes in every game. Modders make mods, the game releases the mod ideas with a twist and rake in cash. Now if they would go full on survival camping, hunger meter, etc. I would purchase that DLC. Perraine
^ Unfortunately in this case you are quite incorrect! It turns out that (if anything) the modders 'stole' ideas from the "brainstorming" video that was doing the rounds when Skyrim was first released plus many other posts/topics regarding what the actual grunts at BGS wanted to do/add to Skyrim, but couldn't, due to that 'ole cherry the "11/11/11" excuse and also because it all had to fit on an xbox disc. Hearthfire has also added quite bit of extra scripting to the game, primarily, I think, in the area's of NPC/Companion AI ... As Lydia for a start, now actually walks around Breezehome without being told to "relax" (using BDO/UFO) and will also interact with items in the house. (She now even sleeps in my new Lakeview Home! And ... I was given the dialogue option to make her my steward and not have to become thane or hire someone I didn't know) The added construction tools/recipes/items/vendor inventories means that a GREAT deal more has been done than just copying player made mods, it also means that a VAST amount of new content can be created in the area of player abodes (which is a VERY popular mod theme) as even the default (countem' 3 only!) player homes obviously have been designed with a great deal of future customization options. And lets also not forget that (alas) this DLC is designed primarily for "vanilla" Skyrim (aka console builds) that don't have access to all the huge variety of mods that we PC users do ... No, I am not a Bugthesda "fan boi" as most of my posts will attest too, but I will defend them in cases where detractors are obviously in the wrong. SephDragoon
I did say, with new bells and whistles. They have a whole production house over there. If they couldn't add onto it, then it would be pretty piss poor. I understand they added new things, but it just didn't seem to be quite as much as I would have hoped for out of a DLC. Nothing was compelling me to give up my mod house for their house. I am also aware that console players can't get these mods. To them I say, what did you expect, you went through the same thing with Oblivion. It's not like they were surprised to find out that PC got all the mods. Now, the last thing is your first thing. Where did they say they were going to do custom houses like this? I mean, was it really said like this, or was that just a general statement? I would be interested to find out who got the idea first.
