Seekirus
Hey guys. I dunno if any of you miss some of the stuff from Oblivion but I do. I had a look for a mod that makes armor are customizable as it was in Oblivion, I found one that adds a few greaves to the game but I didn't see anything that brought it back completely. Maybe I didn't search good enough or maybe there isn't one to do it. If there is one that'd be sweet. Another thing I wante din Skyrim, like a bunch of others I'm sure was an arena like in the Imperial City. I know they were making one and it got cut out as I saw it in the creation kit, but has anyone made a mod similar to the Oblivion Arena? I know there's a mod called Arena III but that doesn't have the same sort of feel for me. One last one was one handed blocking, I liked the Oblivion style more, as I usually just use one handed swords. Has anyone made a mod that makes it similar to Oblivion? I did search a lil but didn't really find anything. Thanks in advance for any help given.
LargeStyle
I've only very briefly played Oblivion and never really looked into and Oblivion mods for Skyrim, but I know that it's strictly prohibited to use direct assets (straight conversions) of material from one Elder Scrolls game into another. The matter of having assets not converted but manually rebuilt instead and being allowed to use is an area of interpretation and discretion, and is generally not a black-and-white subject in terms of allowance. As for any specific answers to certain mod enquiries then hopefully someone more knowledgable will chip in....
bben46
Many Oblivion mod authors have converted their own mods to Skyrim - as long as none of the Bethesda Oblivion assets are used this is fine. Most clothing and armor mods don't use Oblivion assets so most can be converted. However, for some reason, Beth changed the way they handle armor in Skyrim - while in Oblivion there were 5 slots for armor - upper body, lower body, Feet, hands and helm. Skyrim has only 4 - they left out lower body (Note, the even older Morrowind had 7 armor slots.) That doesn't mean you can't have something for the lower body as there are other slots that can be used. Such as the tail slot - which is present even on those bodies that don't have a tail. Meaning you would put the greaves in the tail slot, but display them on the legs - kind of awkward, but it works. Any unused slot can be used for lower body though, as long as you know how to redirect the textures to the legs. However, it's not a good idea to use a slot that is needed by something else - such as the ring slot or amulet slot. However, unlike vanilla Skyrim armor or Oblivion, the new modded greaves will not automatically be equipped in the proper place - that must be taken care of in the mod that adds them.
