gagoloth
Well It seems like the children of skyrim are living in a fantasy world separate from everyone ells in fact it is very immersion breaking, truth is skyrim is a dangerous place even for children.children should be brought into the would have skyrim, bethesda has started i with hearthfire allowing the dovahkiin to adopt a child. lets take it to the next level lets bring children into the reality of skyrim. no more useless children not being able to protect themselves level learn new skills or even get older. So this is what i propose and what i would like to see for an immersion mod for skyrim's children. \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ 1: children able to train and learn weapon skills, the child can only learn magic when they are of age. 2: children followers aka apprentices of the dovahkiin, being a apprentices of the famous dovahkiin the child is now known as dovahkid. 3: Children stay out of battle at all times, they watch there master fight and learn from fights.for every skill the dovahkiin learns and levels up the apprentice learns 1/5 of that skill slowly building there knowledge of battle. 4: children age! the get older they turn into teens then adults! The older they get the faster the will learn skills. age 12 they learn 2/5 age 14 they learn 3/5, age 16 they learn 4/5, then at age 18 they learn 5/5 and at that point they join you in battle to fully develop there skills. 5: school.....for adopting a child you have your responsibility's as dovahkiin to train the child you adopt.reverse skill training, you teach the child skills like how the dovahkiin learn skills from a skill master. 6: children will protect themselves if attacked. 7: child weapons short-swords, throwing rocks, short bow and so on so basically any weapon you would think i child would use. 8: children act like children, they will start asking for money, sweetrolls, toys, attention, new clothes, pets and other things. 9: have this plausible mod take place in one of the hearthfire homes. 10: as the child grows into an adult they move out and find a mate to start there own family. /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ thats it thats my idea, below this sentence there well be some question for you to answer fro feedback. _____________________________________________________________________________________Well what do you think? do you like the idea? would it work? If this mod was created by one of the amazing modders we have on the nexus would you download and endorse it? What are your thoughts? And the BIG question :excl: Are there any modders willing/interested in doing such a mod??? :excl:_____________________________________________________________________________________ Thank you for taking the time to read this post, Gagoloth Edited October 8, 2012 by gagoloth
Georgiegril
I would be interested in using this (not creating it--way beyond my skills), with some caveats: I think the aging thing would be difficult if not impossible. As far as I know the only way to accomplish this would be to spawn a new NPC at intervals to approximate aging, so the process would be in no way smooth. Also, the NOCs ae not particularly well-defined age wise (a lot of the "teenagers" look like adults and use adult voices.) so it would require some pretty substantial modding. I feel pretty strongly against any kind of violence directed toward children: I would not want to see them taking damage or being killable. I see no reason why it should require Hearthfire--why not allow children in any of the homes, like normal followers?

I also do not like "violence toward children" thats why in number three they stay out of all combat until the last stage of number four kicks in. And also i only chose hearthfire because from a modding stand point wouldn't it be easier to improve on hearthfire where there is already a semi made child mod? of coarse this is all hypothetical its doubtful that someone would put effort to make such an extensive complex mod. etennyson
I'd like to see a version of this where you can send your kid off to learn to become a fighter, wizard etc.. Pay the tuition cost and they disappear from the game for x time and then come back full grown and outfitted as an x with the ability to be a companion. However, the mod would have to account for time since game time is 1 hour per minute it would have to be a lot faster. Adoptable kids in Skyrim are roughtly 10-13 years old. Making them grown to say 18 would be 5 years game time or 76 24 hour days real time. Too long so it would have to be half or less. They would one day come back to the house and there they are! videofxuniverse
I'm not a modder so I have absolutely no idea how difficult this mod could be, naturally i'd imagine that it would be buggy as hell and also have conflicts with other mods, but if a modder says its do'able then yes I would love to have it. Also with the killable kids thing... I am a game of thrones fan, it is breath of fresh air away from all the other tv shows with the typical cliche "kids in films and TV are safe and should never die." Skyrim is probably more dangerous than central Afghanistan on a bad day. With that said people like immersion and realism (as real as you can get in a magical fantasy world) so if game of thrones has taught us something its that nobody is safe, there is no good, no bad, the heroes won't prevail against evil & just because you are important, does not mean you are going to accomplish what everyone expects you to do, so if a kid dies, then thats the harsh truth of living in a harsh landscape with monsters, vampires, wolves and gigantic spiders. On the flip side, a multiple install option that has killable kids and non killable kids could solve that so everyone is happy.
