PotatoPandemic
So recently I've installed a boatload of mods for Oblivion using Knots Oblivion guide (unfortunately Something for Nobody seems to be down right now, otherwise I would have gone there for tech support), after spending an elongated amount of time trying to get things up and running, it seems the final products is pretty choppy even when using optimization mods. This is really only when I exit to an outside area near a forest or lake, but the drop is so massive compared to other areas it can be quite annoying (exploring any area inside will give a solid 60 with little stuttering). I've recently updated with:-EVGA GTX 670ti -4 GB RAM-Intel i5 3570k I thought this would be somewhat of an overkill even for modded Oblivion, or maybe I'm wrong and this game can only hold so many mods at once. I'll post my mod list soon to see if things can get sorted out, I hate to be bothering you guys again but I really do love modding even if I'm not to familiar with troubleshooting! Thanks again. Hickory
Oblivion is a very old game whose code was never designed to use the architecture of today's computers, so no matter how good your rig is, a heavily modded Oblivion will not perform like modern games, period. I have a P9X79 Pro mobo, i7 16GB RAM, Dual GTX 580s (4GB vRAM) and if I overload Oblivion with too many taxing mods (RAEVWD being one of the worst, which you have) it performs only marginally better than my old, crappy Vista rig. I also find that Streamline actually makes things worse, not better. When playing Oblivion, it is a balancing act to get acceptable fps and beautification -- if you want top of one, you have to sacrifice something from the other. Well I suppose RAEVWD isn't all that important anyway, I'll disable that and see how it goes. How about Open Cities?

Some are worse than others. I found that with OCR and UL installed, Bravil outskirts was intolerable. I would not do without UL, so OCR had to go. Note that I had many other mods, so it wasn't just those two that contributed, but they were major players. You have to remember that with OC installed, all of those objects that would normally be in their own worldspace, are now competing with the rocks, trees, forts etc. of Tamriel for your GPU's time.
