Modeler99
Well after playing just 18 hours I have come to the end of the game. When I got to the project Purity where I had to activate the water purification system, I needed to input the code. I have the code and after you input this code I died. I even went and restarted from a save just before this and let the other person do it and it is still the same ending. It seems after you start this purification system you are at the end of the game. Oh yes you do get a nice little speech on how you saved wasteland, but the game is over. By the way I did not do too many side quest. So if you want this game to last longer, then I guess you need to do all the silly little side quest. Unless anyone can prove me otherwise I think this game does not even come close to OBLIVION .This for me was Oblivion with guns, but a lot shorter. So for now I will put this game to rest and wait until there are some decent mods for it.

illyism
yeah, the main story is way shorter, I wonder if it's possible to mod the game so you can continue playing after the "credits"
InfiniteRealm
The game auto creates a brand new save when you enter the memorial for the final time, so you can kil Autumn and see the ending, then load up again and wak out (after finishing off any remaining Enclave Troopers). The story was short, but I quite liked it, and the side quests aren't silly, theyre full fledged stories on their own.

Agreed :-) On my first run through of the game I compleated it in next to no time and thought "what a crap ending"But reloaded, left the area and started to explore and do more quests.I'm currently playing 2 other characters (one neutral, one pure evil :whistling: ) and seeing how the gameplay chances
Probe1
My first run I didn't even meet Three Dog. There is so much to do, you just have to pace yourself on the main storyline. I wish Bethesda built in some speedbumps but for the time being its a effort in self control.
WrathOfDeadguy
If you're not careful, you can skip large portions of it by stumbling across certain locations before you're supposed to- but, yeah, the game gives you plenty of opportunities to back off and do some exploring. Most of the time, you can just walk away in the middle of a quest to no ill effect and go do your own thing.
MadGAD
Looks like they (Bethesda) are faked us!SMALL MAP!!! (Less than Tamriel map!)SHORT MAIN QUEST!!!! (Shorter than Fallout and even Oblivion and Morrowind)"GAME OVER" ENDING! (DAMN! FALLOUT-2 Gives us over 9 years to continiue the game!) Even if you are staying alive!ONE REALLY BIG CITY!!!WTF???????????????????????????10 years of awaiting is wasted =(
WrathOfDeadguy
Nevermind that the map has a huge amount of playable area compared to Fallout 1 and 2, and requires more exploration to navigate (instead of allowing the player to run directly to every single location). Also don't mention how the story progresses only as fast as you want it to (granted, it could be quite a bit longer and I wouldn't object, but it doesn't feel hurried along either), and several of the main quests tie in very well with exploration, or how the "one" really big city is bigger than all of the cities in Oblivion combined and downright enormous compared to any of the cities in the previous Fallouts. Oh, and better forget all of those sidequests, morality choices, and buttloads of other content. We got screwed over, man![/sarcasm]
Armadous
Well I just finished the game, the length for me was ok. I had about 50 hours in with all the exploring I did and I hit level 20 2 or 3 hours before I finished. The final mission following the robot was pretty cool even if it was more of a spectator activity. What really gets me though is I finished the game and the end game movie starts to play. I think "All right, now I get to hear about all the impacts I had on the world" just as Fallout 1 and 2 did. I sit back in my chair and prepare to have all my exploits rehashed to me and an explanation of how the near future plays out because of those exploits. I am very very disappointed that the only summarizing that occurs is that of the core story, one binary decision, and weather you were good or evil. Bethesda's claimed 300 endings or whatever only come from the fact that you get to double the 4 possible ending clips (Good/Evil and weather or not you poisoned the water with the FEV virus) because you can play male or female and you get 8, 4 second clips of a picture frame of you and your father, which could be 8 permutations depending on what race/gender you pick and a handful of other cilps about 3 or 4 seconds long showing a single picture of some of the major side quest decisions you made accompanied by background music that is pleasant if you solved them for the better and edgy and tension filled if you solved them for the worse. You get none of that "the world is changed in these ways because of your choices" ending that I felt were hallmarks of 1 and 2. It saddens me greatly how hollow the ending left me feeling. All the way up until the very end I believed that Bethesda had captured what Fallout was but if you ask me they fell flat on their face 3 feet before the finish line. Also, where was the boss fight? It took me 3 or 4 tires to beat Frank Horrigan at the end of 2. I shot Colonel Autumn in the head 3 times and that was that.
