FOSE Issues

I am trying to run RH Iron Sights, but FOSE is a requirement. Every time I try to download FOSE and click the download link on my browser, I get the error "This file does not have an app associated with performing this action".

I'm relatively new to modding, but I want to play Fallout 3 with the Iron Sights. All I am trying to do.

If someone could help me and not just link me somewhere else, I would appreciate it...

I am also having issues with (I think) FOSE...I'm not really sure. I am new to playing FO3 on PC. I have loaded my game and been able to play it successfully, but after a short time playing, the game crashes. Also, when creating a new game, after I have created my character through customization, the game crashes (before mommy dies). This post will be a little long, but it is only because I believe that the more information I am able to provide should conceivably yield more perfect resolutions/answers.

 

What I have already done:

 

-loaded FOSE and changed the original "FalloutLauncher.exe" to "FalloutLauncherBackup.exe", as well as changing the "fose loader.exe" to "FalloutLauncher.exe". I have also included all o fthe *.dll files into the game file.

-Went into "Documents" > "Games" > "Fallout 3", and opened the "fallout.ini" document. I changed "bInvalidateOlderFiles" from "0" to "1".

 

Computer specs:

 

-GPU is a GTX 1050 ti (4GB)

-Processor is Intel Core i5-4690K @3.50 GHz

-8GB ddr3 RAM

-Windows 7 Pro (64)

I am also using WryeBash, and am playing the game through Steam

The game IS FO3-GOTY

All drivers are up-to-date and all versions are as advanced as I can get them. I have been trying to play the game for three weeks not and I still can barely do anything with it. I am not sure if there is some sort of a LO conflict, or if the conflict lay between the various programs I am using to run the game. The exact quotation from LOOT that I am receiving is "You have installed and FOSE Plugin but FOSE was not found! See FOSE download page *here*". When I click on the "here" link, it takes me to http://fose.silverlock.org/, where I first downloaded FOSE.

Whew! Okay, so now you should know the extent of my problems with the game. If there is anything you are able to do, or know someone who is more able to help me with this, please assist me in getting this game running. Sorry for the length of the post.

Never, ever use LOOT to sort FO3 mods. It will only provide you with a mess and you won't be able to run the game.

 

IF you must use a sorting tool, then use B.O.S.S. to sort FO3 mods. Or, you could read the mod description pages of your mods.

 

FOSE will not work if the game is installed in "Program Files". The Windows UAC will prevent any changes to be made to any file installed there.

 

You do not need to run FO3 through STEAM. It is not a STEAM game, it is a Games For Windows Live game. Steam does nothing to help run FO3.

 

You need to remove any unused plugins. Keep in mind that compatibility patches must load after the last mod being patched.

 

I suggest that you check the Blackened patches that are available. Make sure you read and understand the instructions.

 

You cannot play through the tutorial with mods enabled. Disable all your mods before you start and make a save before you exit the vault. Make another save once you are outside the vault and enable your mods.
