ogredpowell
I understand that the lower the mod is on a load order, it 'overrides' the mods above. I have figured out to use F04edit to see were conflicts are. What I do not understand is how to resolve a conflict- is it a matter of just changing a load order? How does creating your own 'patch' w F04 edit different? Thanks. I know this is a bit of a noob question and I appreciate any advice. Background:I'm new to F04 modding. I am enjoying it greatly, but most recently have had issues w AWKCR. In a new game, all the bandannas are red and the faction paint isnt appear on BOS ranks. The author told there was a conflict between OMODS and some other mod, but I'm not sure what that means exactly

The author told there was a conflict between OMODS and some other mod, but I'm not sure what that means exactly"I understand that the lower the mod is on a load order, it 'overrides' the mods above Its not as simple as that, it entirely depends on how that mod would be affected by any other mod further down the load order. example: if 2 mods edit the same armor, then yes this type of conflict would be classed as an override, which for the most part is nothing to worry regarding issues, it simply means the mod higher in the load order then the other mod that edits the same thing, will be made redundant thus a waste of an ESP slot (however issues can arise from this, but the chances are not common, hence for the most part). However if 1 mod (that Contains an ESP or ESM Files), edits textures and you have absolutely no other mod that Edits Textures, this then mod will not affect any other mod, and thus will not cause conflicts or any issue at all regarding mod compatability. thus meaning, it does not matter where it is placed in the load order, with regards to priority, but typically a mod that edits textures should be placed higher in the load order anyway (right up to where the ESM files are) at texture edits do not require priority, especially not in comparison to mods that add to the Chemistry Workbench, Quest Mods, Alternate Start Mods, Scrapping mods all of which require very high priorty, and thus placed lowest in the load order to gain maximum priority. "What I do not understand is how to resolve a conflict- is it a matter of just changing a load order it entirely depends what the conflict is. if the conflict is a mod override as mentioned directly above this, then yes changing the load order, will change which mod's edit appear in game. and it will be as simple as that (and in this scenerio, you disable the other mod to eliminate the conflict, whilst simultaneously granting another free mod slot, so you can add another mod to your game). however if the conflict is location based, such as 1 mod adds a new builiding to a location, whilst another mod edits that location, then this is more of a serious conflict, as Navmesh, and Potentially Previs/Precombines (Performance Optimization System) then comes into play. to resolve this conflict, would be to create patch, or to remove either of these mods. their Load Order locations would not really solve this conflict. and for anthor example: if 1 mod deletes content, whilst another mod attempts to add content in the exact same place as the mod that deletes content, this is a very serious conflict, that will result in CTDs or other serious issues. to solve this, would be to choose which mod you want to keep, load order will make no difference, and neither will a patch, as patch would fix it, but make either mod redundant anyway. their is many potential conflicts, these examples are only 3 of them. "I'm new to F04 modding. I am enjoying it greatly, but most recently have had issues w AWKCR. In a new game, all the bandannas are red and the faction paint isnt appear on BOS ranks. The author told there was a conflict between OMODS and some other mod, but I'm not sure what that means exactly" OMOD = Object Modification, so what this means, is all them paint options you have in the armor workbench for example, are called Object Modifications. and basically, you have another mod, which is potentially overriding the armor workbench OMODS, thus preventing AWKCR from giving you the option to change your paint for the bandana. this can be caused if a mod adds a lot of OMODS, is placed lower then AWKCR which will be very likely, or the Mod Completey Re-Arranges the Workshops (Very Unlikely but possible). to resolve this conflict, you would need to create a Patch Between AWKCR and the Mod In Question, to do this you would open both AWKCR and the Mod In Question, in F04EDIT, and Copy all Records from AWKCR into the Mod In Question, this will then add AWKCR as a Master to The Mod, and Likewise now make AWKCR a Mod Requirement for the Mod In Question. Another Example, Every Single option you have for upgrading guns (Recieiver, Magazine, Grip, Sights etc etc), every single 1 of these options are classed as OMODS (object modifications) Basically OMODS are literally every single option you have, in the Armor and Weapon Workbenches. except Scrap and Rename Item (which are simply game options, not OMODS)
