virtualDrag
Good day, ppl. My story begins with the happy gaming time when I was using w7 x32 having 2GB ram (I know, it's quite funny these days for gamers). Months later I bought more (total 4GB) and decided to switch to x64 for w7 to see it all. Installed Steam, Skyrim, mods, especially textures. I installed 2 HighRes packs from bethesda and the following: Better Dynamic SnowBetter WaterBreezehome lighing fixBreezehome shadow fixCrimson Tide BloodDistant DetailEnhanced distant TerrainHD plants & herbsHD workbench & grindstoneHQ snow textureKerplunk - Watery RocksLegible Road Signs High ResLush TreesLush GrassMore GrassThat's IceTerrain BumpRealistic LightingReal Rain BasicReal Glaciers RemasteredReal MountainsStatic Mesh Improvement Mod - SMIM+ A Quality World Map Installer v8.0 and Skyrim sunglare v3.0 HD via NMM On the next launch I noticed, that I experience some short-time freezes for 2-3 seconds for a few times and then it turns back to normal. It occurs in any interior/exterior location every 2-4 grids (ini has default value of ugridstoload). On x32 and less RAM with the same mods (except beth's HighResTP) that didn't occur. After having scanned wiki for the HRTP contents I found out that it may conflict with the mods from my list. The question is - can HRTP really be the cause of my freezes, as it replaces most of the things mods do as well? Or do they? Georgiegril
Hi, I am one of a number of people who do not use the Hi-res DLC, for the exact reasons that you describe. I found that by not using the DLC, I could increase my textures quality to high and add a number of mods that make Skyrim look awesome. There are quite a few mods that in my opinion have better results and avoid the performance problems. Some of the ones I use are WATER, SMIM, Skyrim Flora Overhaul, HLP NIght Sky, and Rugged Rocks. Your graphics card is somewhat better than mine, but your CPU is a litte worse, so I think you may have results similar to mine. Another thing to check, though--if you haven't already disabled your autosaves, that could also be the cause of periodic freezing/lagging.
