Nope, no photoshopping. Just an experiment.

Betty left her birthday party and ventured out into the Wastelands as a 10 year old girl. (Used tcl to get out and console commands to give her the items).

She got completion of the vault quest at the vault exit.

She can do all quests.

She can wear all armors.

She can pick up and use all drugs, alcohol, etc.

She has all adult animations.

Hats and helmets have clipping problems.

She can die.

And she is named after the evil Betty who lives in Tranquility Lane.

She is recognized by the game as a child. This is apparent by the fact that she cannot interact with the bomb at the center of Megaton.

When she tries to do so she gets the msg: "children cannot interact with this object".

The fact that she can take dmg and die as a child tells me that the invulnerable children NPCs are tagged as 'essential' just like essential quest NPCs.

This means if we can find some way to turn off the essential tag....woila killable children, just like in the original games.

The little Lamplighter sherrif better watch his manners!

I disagree. Characters with the *Essential* tag can still take damage, but be knocked unconscious. If you try to attack a child in the game, the hit does not land at all.

So has anyone found out how to damage children yet? I'm sure they have their own unique tag, which is found out by using GetIsChild (pretty sure).

The thing we have to find out is how to modify the values of the "Child" category of NPC, or how to change the type of NPC someone is.
