New Vegas U.L.T.I.M.A.T.E. Modding Guide

I didn't use that particular guide when I first started playing FNV, but the "Fear and Loathing in New Vegas" one from S.T.E.P. (which is similar in purpose and intent). But I rather quickly encountered things which such guides (in general) do not cover because of assumptions or time and wound up writing my own (referencing other existing resources where possible "to avoid re-inventing the wheel") detailing what I felt was needed by someone else new to the game to fill in the gaps. I never had a problem I could not immediately attribute to a specific recently added mod and played a stable game (smooth performance and no CTDs) from day one once I felt it was ready.

Consequently I recommend anyone read the entire "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article to understand the differences between this game and others you may have experience with; especially if this is your first attempt to play a modded FNV or it's been more than a year since you last did so.

Then you can intelligently follow any modding guide which covers installing specific mods. But bear in mind every computer system is different (even between two identical model boxes coming off the same assembly line), so some "tweaking" is inevitable. Which is why it's important to understand the "why" behind the "directions".

I recommend you only use the texture mods listed, though at a point most textures will be personal preference due to overwrites. There doesn't seem to be too many up to date modding guides, though I believe Viva New Vegas will be adding enhanced content to it's selection sometime. Viva New Vegas already has personal patches and changes made for the mods in the guide, so if it updates before you've downloaded every texture and gun mod you could need, I suggest you use it for extra content beyond vanilla.

I need to level with you.. That guide is absolutely awful, written incredibly poorly, with a lot of really, really bad recommendations and instructions, which can actually can break your game more than any good it can do.

The mods it recommends and the order installing, along with terrible advice of using mods that are known to be broken from almost a decade ago. It reads like a guide from someone who has no experience in modding or has no knowledge of how new vegas works and what its limitations are.

Do yourself a favor, save your time and look elsewhere.

My only recommendation would probably be Viva New Vegas by Qolore. I followed it and it's very simple, but packs a lot of good stuff and teaches you a few useful things along the way, and it's excellent for beginners. It covers a lot of content which makes your game more stable, with good recommendations and mods that blend well together. It's been the one i go to for a while now, it's the only one iv'e found out there that the people actually know what theyre doing.

The community can be a little bit questionable at times, however, but if you don't get too meme-y and really apply yourself with the intent to finish the guide and learn a few things, everyone is willing to help and you may make a few friends.

Good luck.

Pretty much what GRUmod said.
This is a reason why comments/likes/dislikes are off on his videos and why you don't see his guides on public spaces where one can comment publicly.. Thousands of people following bad modding advice.

I mean.. the cherry on top; even the authors of viva new vegas have to warn users about guides from this particular individual.

Quote by viva new vegas on mods to avoid:
Sinitar's Gameplay Overhaul (or anything made by Sinitar): Sinitar knows nothing about modding, as shown by his guide that includes most of the mods on this list. SGO is full of bugs, broken features, awful balance, and Sinitar's trademark typos. Avoid anything he makes at all costs
