A city gone bad

I did a very stupid thing : I installed the Blood & Mud mod without backing up the vanilla city files. The mod totally revamps Bravil, overwriting the original files. I prefer the "old" city.

Am I stuck with it, the only way out being a total re-install ? Is there any way to extract the files I need from .cab files on the disk ? With the number of mods, patches and tools I'm running, a re-install is not a tempting project...

Just disable installed mod. If it includes any replacer(or simply disabling mod won't work properly), you may need to uninstall the mod. That's all. No mod can temper Oblivion.esm directly(Also, you can't 'backup' original city since you can't mess Oblivion.esm normally). Edited by LFact

Thank you, LFact !

The problem was that disabling the mod, though setting the city back to its old configuration (removed the new areas), it kept the gothic exteriors. So I uninstalled the mod by picking off all the meshes and textures that were added. I hope all of them were unique, so I don't run into trouble further down the line. But Bravil is now back to its dreary vanilla self, and everything seems to work. 8)
